Well, I am 49 & my son is 13, so I will pray a lot, & make sure I vote in the next election to get a more intelligent president who isn't a bible thumper or an oil barron in office. |

Do your job and report when required.
Just because you do not believe in the war doesn't mean you aren't an American. Your responsibility is to your country in whatever form your country needs. |

You serve your country , or move away - - - - forever . You don't have to believe in the war , do you believe in the country ?
I served in the Second World War through every single day of action , from Pearl Harbor to Czechoslovakia . Seven and a half years without even a three day pass. That was front line infantry . The guys who live in mud and blood . The guys who scrounge for food because the trucks can't make it to the front lines because of mud and land mines . The guys who stick bayonets into Schweinhund's bellies .
You can imagine my disgust in people who refuse to serve . Men serve their country without looking for reasons not to . Cowards and leeches leave the fighting to someone else . They know all the excuses . |

Some may think that heading north(like thier parents did) is a good bet. Even heading south might look like a good option. Reality is that after 'nam extradition treaties were ratified.
You can't head there anymore.
In fact there are VERY few countries that don't have an extradition treaty with the US.
Might as well head for Iraq. But then again, would you rather live free from draft in Iraq as a defensless civilian or would you rather have a weapon in your hand and buddies at your back! |

I guess America's problem with illegal immigrants would be reversed. |

OK, if the draft were reinstated tomorrow and I received notice to report I would, it's my country and I owe something to it for giving me my freedoms and opportunities. Would my kids go yes they already have as did their Dad, Uncles and Grandfather before them we belive to serve is a privlege fro being able to live in this country. And yes it might solve our problem with illegals we could draft them too and those that are willing to go can be citizens when they come back... |

You would not get enlistment papers.
You would get orders to report.
And you would not necessarily be assigned combat duty.
You could go to College.
You could go to another country.
You could say you were gay.
You could file for hardship.
You could get married.
You could go to prison.
You could join another branch of service less likely to make you target.
I got my draft card in 1969 on my 18th birthday.
Prime cannon fodder.
But I got high draft lottery numbers.
I later did 10 years USCG |

I dont think I would get Orders To Report.
Seeing as how I am already serving VOLUNTARILY.
You people making way that you would get out of service make me sick! Saying a draft is unconstitutional?
First of all, please show me where in the constitution it talks about drafting.
Second, sorry, but if you arent willing to serve the country that gives such freedoms that are in the Constitution, then you have no right to try to use it to protect you.
Dont try making excuses about it being unconstitutional, or a war for no reason. Just say what it really is. Just say, "I am to scared." Just admit that you arent man enough to do whats right.
It people like you that are bringing our country down. |

*Register as a conscientious objector.
You serve your country in a non combative capacity, and save yourself and family alot of grief.
Or you can show your @2s and become a loser.
It's your choice. |

ok once again i know you all are gonna send me the hate email over this one and i am ready for it ....
what do i do? i do a little PAAAARRRRRTTTTYYYYY DANCE!
right now im in recruiting and a draft would put people in line around the corner to volunteer for what they wanted before they got selected to do something they dont want. recruiting would be a snap. therefore they wouldnt need me and beack to the real army i would go where things make sense.
ok ok start the hate! |

Huh. If a draft were passed in the immediate future.
Well, I would probably ***** and moan for a few minutes, then call the recruiter down the road and ***** at him for a few more.
I just got out of the military after ten years. But what can you do? If they need me they've got me. |

Obviously this is relating to Iraq or Vietnam, because if the war was justified and we were actually threatened a draft would not be necessary. I am a firm believer in that. |
