Even with a G.E.D, would i still be able to join the Air Force?
Find answers to your legal question.

Even with a G.E.D, would i still be able to join the Air Force?

I been intrested for a while but I'm quite sure i heard someone say that you need a High School Diploma. Well I couldnt finish High shchool for personal reasons, but i recently attained my GED which is just as good as any H.S diploma.

Would that disqualify me for even being considered to join the Air Force?

i never had any criminal records, so why not recruit me? lol

Yes you would be able to join with a GED it is equivalent to a high school diploma

armyguy
Yes but it would also depend on your BAT score and physical

all branches accept GEDs BUT.. you must score higher on the ASVAB than a HS graduate would have to (50 instead of 35) AND each branch only accepts a VERY small number each fiscal year. since the new fiscal year starts on Monday, you MIGHT get lucky, but don't count on it.

GEDs are NOT considered to be as good as HS diploma in the eyes of the military. failing to get a HS diploma shows a lack of commitment and perseverance.

Now, go to a local community college for one semester and take 15 100 level or higher college credits and that elevates the GED to the same level as a HS diploma and you will have a much easier time getting in. to any branch.

I would call a recruiter or see if the Air Force has that information on its web site. Good luck!

My husband is a recruiter. Having a GED will almost guaranteed you NOT to be able to join the Air Force. Because they are restructuring and pushing people out of the Air Force, they can afford to be picky, and being picky means only allowing high school grads to join, if that. But, heck, ask a recruiter, they might surprise you. Good Luck!

Yes, you will be fine. Just make sure you do well on your ASVAB test. Oh, and you only need a bachelors degree if you want to be an officer.

not sure about the air force but once tried to join coast guard with a ged and they said NO. but the navy said yes. for those people that say a ged [good enough diploma] is equivalent its really not as good as the real thing.

I CAN ANSwER THIS!!!! my husband only had his GED but he got into the Air Force! usually the Air Force requires you to have a high school diploma not a GED but my husband got a really high score on his ASVAB so they wanted him, study hard and you'll get in, the Air Force is great you'll love it!

My husband is in the Air Force... has been for about three years now and about two years ago they changed it so that you did have to have a High School Diploma. It's my educated guess that it is due to the fact that they've been recruiting too many people into the AF... they've been letting a TON of guys go - mainly SSGT... I am pretty sure that you can join any other branches of the military with a GED. If you were looking at the Air Force I would say that the Navy would be your next best bet. Your chances of going to Iraq in the Army or Marines are a lot stronger than in the AF or the Navy and they just don't seem to screw you over as bad - quality of life-wise.

I guarantee you that the second you walk into a recruiters office they'll be more than happy to help you - those are eager mofos... my brother just blindly signed up for the Army National Guard - they'll tell you anything to get you to join if it's possible.

From what I have heard the Air force wont expect GED. I'm not sure you would need to call a recrutiter but it also has to do w/ what u score on ur ASVAB.......

Yes you are able to join the Air Force with a G.E.D. Just get ahold of your nearest recruiter and they will tell you everything, but trust me when I say that you are far from disqualified. If you do enlist i just want to say Thank you, My years in the navy were the best in my life, the only downfall is how little those two words are ever said to us. So Thank You.
