so i want to join (thinking about joining) the U.S Marine core.
im a sophmore, gonna be a junoir next school year, what should i be able to do before i start my junior year pysical wise ex: # push ups, running distance, crunches ect.
by christmas?
by my senior year?
im also on my schools wrestling team so i do physical activity and work out ect.

Hi, I think it is awesome that you are considering the USMC. My daughter is in (a year in July) and tells me often, it was the best decision she ever made and loves it. Loves the Marine she has become.
I think since you wrestle you will have no problems in Boot Camp. I don't think there is a lot you can prepare for. She did some working out before but Boot Camp, but BC is what it is, to get you in shape. Unless you are over weight or can't hang on the bar for the minimum time I wouldn't stress to much about it.

While in Receiving, you'll be given the Initial Strength Test (IST). To pass (and avoid the Physical Conditioning Platoon, or Porkchop Platoon), you'll be required to run 1.5 miles in 15 minutes, perform a flex-arm hang of 12 seconds, and do 44 crunches in 2 minutes.
As such, it's recommended that you get accustomed to do slightly more than this to make the IST a bit easier. |
