How do I become a Florida resident to join the Florida National Guard? I don't have enough money to get my own place yet, but i do have a relative in northern Florida. I want to do the "quick ship" option and use that $5,000 to get my own apartment after basic training. But I just need to know how to become a Florida resident so I can get a Florida State ID to join the Florida National Guard. I live in Michigan now

You dont need to live in the state you want to join. My friend lives in North Carolina, and is joined up with the South Carolina Guard, but you do need a address, so use your relatives, in Florida.
You can join threw Michigan, ship out within 30days (quick ship) then once you get back from AIT and BCT you can transfer states and be in the Florida Guard.

You could TRY to get in contact with a Florida Guard recruiter, tell him what you want to do, although if you do this option you probably will have to take a trip down to Florida to go to MEPS, sign papers, etc.
Option number 1 is your best bet, its going to be hard, but its worth it. If you have a Michigan ID you should be fine. Call a recruiter and ask |
