Friend of mine can't join AF because of kids?

A friend of mine was told he can't join the Air Force (he's 24) because he has 2 kids, (he is married) why is this? the AF recruiter told him this yesterday

The problem isn't that he has kids - it's that he has to MANY kids.
Initial enlistment has a limit of no more than two dependents - and he has three.
This MAY be waiverable, but he has to find out through a recruiter. |

He can he just needs a waiver. The AF recruiters are so busy they don't want to deal with waivers. |

Each service branch sets their own standards on how many dependents you may have and be able to enlist.
The DOD policy is no more than two dependents under age 18.
But individual services can be more strict.
Navy - requires a waiver for more than dependent( spouse included )
Marine Corps requires a waiver for any dependent under age 18
Army- requires a waiver for more than two dependents, in addition to a spouse
The Air Force does a financial eligibility determination for any dependents at all
Basicilly the Air Force looks at what debt you will have, what your pay will be and it has to be less than 40% of your take home pay. |

you can with kids. just you have to sign over custody but if hes married that is werid. maybe he is making that up because he doesnt want to say the real reason. my friend was in and got a divorse and she was going to get 'seperated' from the navy if she didnt sign some paperwork giving her mom 'custody if she gets deployed' cause she got sole custody in the divorce |

NO CUSTODY< get a person to take care of kids with POA!!! if you sign custody over ot someone you risk th echanc eof them keeping th ekids an dnever signing custody back over to you, never never go with custody, POA!!! it has an expiration date!!! He is married with two kids, I am cinfused, they do nto except single parents not married with children, must be antoehr reason he is not telling you. |
