Gender equality in deployment?

Gender equality in deployment?

Why can women get out of deployment if they get pregnant, but men can't get out if their wives get pregnant? I can understand not getting out if it's just their girlfriend, because technically, they don't really have a commitment to their girlfriends I guess, and probably a lot of girls would get pregnant just to get their men out of deployment, and then we'd have too many babies and not enough soldiers, but wives? Why not if a man's wife gets pregnant? I think he should at least have the option, or be able to come home for the baby's birth or something. Not that anyone would want to witness a birth, I'm not too looking forward to having to witness a birth when my time comes to have kids, but I haven't figured out a way out of that one. But in all seriousness. If the military wants to provide gender equality, then either pregnant women should have to deploy, and do office work, or fathers should be able to get out. Is this unreasonable?

If you're after fairness join the YMCA, not the military. The military makes absolutely no pretense at "gender equality." Gender equality is not now, and has never been, a goal of the armed forces.

The mission of the military is to defend our country and prosecute wars - ie kill people and break things. If fairness and equality were implemented across the board, we'd eventually run out of people to do that.

The short answer is that the pregnant woman can die and we do our best to protect our soldiers. Die because there may not be the proper medical facilities present, or the right specialists, or unforeseen complications can arise from the birth.

"Quick, we need to evacuate! Oh wait, we can't move you because you're in labor." Now more than just the expectant mother is at risk.

Just because one works in an office in a conflict zone does not mean they are safe. My unit's retention officer who was in Iraq a few years ago said a wall fell on her while she was in her office because of a mortar shell shaking things up. If she had been pregnant, it could have been worse.

from army point of view, the pregnat soldeir is incapacitated.

if you are able to get pregnant, you have the same option like female soldiers.

If every man got out of deployment when his wife was pregnant, then we would hardly have any men to deploy. Many of our servicemen are at the age where they are having children. Why do you think you hear so much about people having children born while being deployed?
