Getting ready for the Marine Corps?

I started running six days ago. I run every night, and I REALLY push myself when I run. I can now run for more than a quarter mile. I know that is still horrible but hey I have until September to get ready so it is all good. I just skipped running today though, is that ok? I don't plan on doing it a lot (skipping) but I just didn't want to today. I run every day though so I don't feel too guilty about it, but is it ok to just take ONE day off?

My husband is getting ready and runs 1 and 1/2 miles once a day but sometimes he'll swim instead but he always tries to do at least running or swimming. If you dont want to do it today its fine but when you're in basic training i guarantee you wont be wanting to do it every day either lol but you'll have to then so take the time now while you can to rest up. Work on your pullups and crunches on the days you take off running, but try to do them on the days you run too. My husband looks like he'll be doing really well, all his work is paying off :) Your recruiter can probably tell you about a poolee function they should have at least once every month where you can go and train with a bunch of other marine recruits all day. BAsic Is designed for the fattest, dumbest and slowest guy to pass, it is built on starting small and working your way up the only guys who don't make it and are weeded out are the duche bags who give up. If your recruiter signed you up you can most likely make it through basic, good luckl with that 1/2 mile though the Devil dogs are gonna rape at least three miles out of you. three miles is the pt test that's not what you normally run. wit h4 yrs in I've done as little as 2 miles(usually sprints) to 6mile 'fun runs" and a couple brutal 10-12 milers |

Yeah dude, remember your leg muscles need days to rest too, and its recommended to take it easy when you are starting so you dont get shin splints. Run as much as you can one day, and another day do add sprints to your runs so you work on speed and endurance. Dont forget your upper body. Best of luck.
