Getting secret clearance in the Navy?

For CONFIDENTIAL and SECRET Clearances:

* A National Agency Check (NAC)-A computerized search of investigative files and other records held by federal agencies such as the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) and Office of Personnel Management (OPM).
* A Local Agency Check (LAC)-A review of appropriate criminal history records held by local law enforcement agencies, such as police departments or sheriffs, with jurisdiction over the areas where you have resided, gone to school, or worked.
* Financial checks - A review of your Credit Record.

As everyone joining the military will, at the minimum, have a ENAC, LAC & Credit Check, Everyone holding a Military ID will have at a SECRET Clearance.

Believe it or not, I still have my enlistment forms and every set of orders for my 20 years in the AF. As per my orders for my first duty station, It says SECRET - and my first job in the AF was construction as a Carpenter/Mason. Not a whole lot of secret stuff going on in that career field.

The only possibilities of not having a SECRET Clearance is... If you are not a US Citizen and serving in the US Military.

They won't ask you. All they do for a secret clearance is do a Local Agency Check, a National Agency Check, and a Credit Check.

Even for TS clearance the only thing that comes close is Section 21 of the SF-86: "In the last 7 years, have you consulted with a mental health professional (psychiatrist, psychologist, counselor, etc.) or have you consulted with another health care provided about a mental health related condition?"

If you were diagnosed with ADD put it down, if you took the adderall on your own, don't. It's not going to bite you, what they're looking for is depression, bi-polar, or other heavy hitters.

Nice job with the SEALs program...I would mention it...they'll probably find out any way...but if you do I would tell them that you stopped. I would also go to a doctor to write up a note saying that you truly do not need Adderall. Good luck...

*sigh* what part of Integrity don't you understand? lieing about being on a Med is a sure firte way to not only NOT get a clearance you can kiss the Navy goodbye.. let alone SEAL.

you went off the meds without your doctor's approval. That by and of itself is enough to DQ you.

Get all your medical records together along with your doctors' WRITTEN APPROVAL that you went off the meds and you have a shot.

Lie or omit ANYTHING..and they will nail you to the wall when they find out.

Keep your mouth shut. Do not sweat it. Really not a big deal, unless you deny it now and admit to it later. Just stay quiet and you don't have to worry about it.
