I understand you fill out a dream sheet of locations you would like to be stationed at. The thing is I would prefer to be stationed overseas rather then within the US. What could I do to have them check to see if I could be stationed overseas first before checking my US locations?
Also if anyone wants to throw out some good and fun locations to be stationed at I am open to hearing some since I only have a few locations selected so far. I leave tomorrow :)

Years ago I had my (what I thought) was the places I wanted to go on my dream sheet. In ten years I moved 6 times, never to any of those places. I enjoyed where I went, they were places that I had never thought of. I was told that every effort is extended to try and get you where you would like, just never worked for me. |

You have to know what your AFSC is, before you can really fill out a dream sheet.
Otherwise, you have no idea if your AFSC can be stationed where you list or not.
NOTE: make if you want a overseas assignment, then make sure you ask for an extended long assignment, they are chosen before those requesting a long or short tour.
2. When you list ANY overseas location on your dream sheet, you are volunteers for assignment to ANY overseas location, not just the one you listed. |

Maybe things have changed since my day, but they used to give you all the locations with slots open for your AFSC, and you could fill out your dream sheet from there. For mine, it seemed Incirlik and Pusan always had an opening, and people told me they weren't all that bad. I dunno: the ones in CONUS that always had open slots were places like Minot. |
