God and the Iraq War?
|
I wonder does God support the war in Iraq or any war for that matter. In war time people are killed for things like oil, greed, wanting to conquer new lands, power and control and many other ridicilous reason. All things God opposes God doesn't mind a war that is fighting in his name. But the war were in now has absolutely nothing to do with that. Do you think He is displeased? And even with our government has a whole? Additional Details Well I am a Christian and my husband is in the military so it is part of my life. I don't worry about like you accuse me of I just wanted to hear real believers and there thoughts on war.

I am certain he is irritated at the reason for the war. I am equally certain that he is pleased with those warriors that do their best. Soldiers go where they're told to go, do what they are trained to do, and pray to their God.
It is our job to support our troops through actions, and prayers. For those that do not pray for what ever reason, give them your moral support.
You do not have to support the war, I don't, you should support the troops. |

I think God looks at the individual, and their actions are judged at the end of the day. I don't think God supports people killing each other, whatever their reasons. However if we ask for forgiveness for our sins, God will forgive us. How on earth could an all powerful being who loves us all ever support a war, think about it. People (men) make wars, usually over land. You can twist it all around however you like but in the end it all comes down to greed. In the meantime, I agree with the person who said 'worry about yourself', because really, you are the only person you can change. |

What about being displeased with the Shittes and Sunnis. He's their God, too-----why should he be displeased with just our government? |

God gave man free will. It's up to us to use that free will for good or evil. Every country believes God is on their side but I don't think God takes sides. He observes what we do with what he's given us. More wars have been fought due to religion and more have died or in the name of religion than I care to think about. It's insanely egotistic of us to believe that God would be on our side or anyone's side just so that we can kill our fellow man.
Everything has a purpose, I believe, but I'm not wise enough to know what purpose war would have in God's plan. Perhaps, we have to fight wars until humanity finally recognizes the futility of it. Until mankind learns that lesson we are fated to continue to be plagued with them. |

The Bible says that "He who lives by the sword, shall die by the sword". Nowhere does Jesus condon any form of war. To a true Christian, there is no such thing as a "just" war. But what about " self- defence"? Ask the early Christians, who could have saved their own lives merely by obeying the law.
"Goldwater" raises an interesting point. Do you think God would approve the killing of over 500,000 innocent Iraqis by the mass bombings of their country. Also, would God approve the US supplying Saddam with the weapons to poison the Iranians and the Iraqi Kurds? |

What does "god" have to do with any war except to act as a conceptual cause thereof? How many wars have been fought thruout mans history over the issue of a different concept of "god"? And since "god" is merely a concept of the individual DOING the conceiving, how that person feels about it will be how their "god" feels about it. From the phrasing of your question, I can tell that YOU disapprove of the current situation, and that therefore your god-concept is also displeased. It is ALSO evident that you see your god-concept as the only correct one. If you look at the current situation in the middle-east, you will see that THAT is the core of the problem. |

The fact that three people gave "thumbs down" to the poster who said, "God doesn't like war, period" makes me realize that the best decision of my life was to become an Atheist.
God only likes war if he/she/it is a stockholder in all those companies that got juicy no-bid war contracts from the GOP. |

I don't think you should be worreid about whther God likes the war or the government or the guy down the street, just worry about YOUR actions. |

Do you think He would be happier if we let terrorists bomb our buildings and kill innocents without retribution? Would he be happier if Saddam were still in power, torturing and imprisoning innocents? |

Funny! Tony Blair and Gordon Brown, both Scottish and both religous, should tell lies to go to war.If there is a god? why are these two allowed to live a life of luxury, after all the killing in their name and the lies they told to go to war. A waste of lives, and could the money not be spent on something better? Surely when Blair applies to join the Catholic church the Pope will tell him where to go! |

What I'm wondering is why your avatar that I clicked on was a black girl and the one on this page shows your avatar as a white girl? Are you a girl at all? Are you a chameleon or something?
Now I mean no offense but if you can't be straight with your avatar, then why should we believe anything you say? |

If you can't find one, it must not exist. Start worrying about everyday life and not make believe fairies in the sky. |
