Okay I wanna be Security Forces (MP) in the Air Force but I have one problem.
I was diagnosed with Anxiety at age 12 and it says "No History of Personality Disorders" to be in SF.
But then again, Anxiety is a DQ to just get into the Air Force in the first place.
So if I get a waiver and they give me a psychological evaluation and they see I'm fine and I can enter the Air Force... would I be able to join Security Force?
If it makes a difference I got a 68 on my ASVAB and SF is a 35 minimum job.

In the army, you can have a history of Anxiety and Depression and you could be Infantry!
But for some reason they don't allow it with Military Police.
Also they say that it depends on how severe the Anxiety was. I was 12 at the time and I went to a psychologist for 4 seperate sessions and he prescribed me a 3-month Zoloft prescription. I don't think thats anything extreme.

If you get waivered through to get in in the first place... there's nothing additional they could look at as a disqualifier. Go for it...
Go to MEPS, tell them you want security forces, or nothing. Make sure you have that anxiety documented somewhere BEFORE you sign an enlistment contract, and make sure that contract has security forces written on it. The worst they can do then is say no... just don't settle for taking any job you don't want, or a situation where they would pick a job for you. If you get a contract that says security forces on it, you'll get it |

If you have a hisory of anxiety they are not going to give you a weapon.
And it's not MP its just Security Forces, pretty much the same as MP (duh) but if you want to be in the Air Force then you gotta start learning the lingo.
BTW I had to get a psych eval and a waiver just for a freakin concussion I had 5 years ago.
EDIT: you didnt say sh$t about the Army. I gave you an answer from an Air Force perspective. In the Army you can also have a GED and 3 felony charges and drug usage and they will give you a weapon. Not Air Force.
Also, SF is the number 1 most stressful job in the Air Force. Think about that. |

If you have anxiety don't join the Military. You will have severe problems overseas as Security Forces. A friend of mine got back from his second tour. He was attached to the Army doing Army missions(lame right?). If you consider the Air Force to be a good way to join the Military and avoid the risk think again. You will face just as many roadside bombs and just as many people trying to kill you in Iraq. You may think you can handle it, but people without anxiety have come back f'ed up beyond all belief mentally. One of them is my friend. Severe Post-Traumatic stress disorder. He cannot be in loud noises, drive in cars, ect ect. |
