Graduate from retraining AFSC but fail top secret clearance?

So I am applying for retraining and two of the AFSCs require a top secret clearance which is an extensive investigation that could take more than a year. However you don't need to have it to get accepted for a class date and graduate. My question is, what happens when you graduate tech school, but the investigation is still in process and concludes to a top secret clearance DISAPPROVAL? What happens with the individual? Do they get to retrain into a different AFSC? or will they return to their original AFSC? if so, as a FTA, can you still BOP with the original AFSC?

Actually it would depend on why you could not gain a security clearance.
You might end up being administratively separated.
But at a min, you would go back to your old AFSC.
But if you were retraining at reenlistment time, it would depend in you had a CJR in your old AFSC or not.
If you didn't, then you would just be discharged.
But to retrain into an AFSC that requires a security clearance, you must at least have an intern clearance before you can start Tech School. |
