I don't believe the policy is helping them, nor hurting them. It wouldn't be a good idea to outlaw banning them for service, they can pick up a gun as good as anybody else.

Just Kidding.... I dont really think it matters to much, as long as they can handle their resposiblities, I dont care what/who they are. Which also goes along with their religious affliation, they're gender or race. Doesnt really matter to me.

I had a flaming instructor at Benning, and no one cared. Guy was an infantry NCO, lived with another guy off base in a serious relationship. Really no one cares. I don't want to know about that kind of thing any more than I want to know if one of my soldiers ties his girlfriend up behind closed doors. It doesn't belong in the workplace, least of all in the military where you have to live in close quarters with people w/o lots of privacy.

I just got out and most people don't care, I knew a few and couldn't care less (doesn't mean that I didn't make gay jokes in front of them). Just remember that clinton do anything good for the military...

well my husband is in the military and knows gay people and he doesn't see anybody discriminating against them, whey they are deployed they all hang out gay or not, but the gay guys know that the straight guys don't want to hear about their love lives so they don't talk about it and its fine, i'm a republican and i think the don't ask don't tell system works well

Gays shouldn't be in the military. I was in the military as well and there were gays. Didn't really bother me but cause a good bit of friction with others. It's a distraction the military doesn't need. They have enough on their plate without having to worry about that...

it's not helping. Gays in the military are still discriminated against... it seems to me that they are still hiding and definitely not accepted by the high ranking officers.

it's not. it's a stupid, hurtful policy that is keeping good soldiers out of service at a time when we need everyone we can get.
