Sub, duty requires complete control at all times and is one of the most stressful jobs in the navy, and when your assigned aboard an atomic sub it is more so.. to endanger this by making the crews coed shows a complete lack of common sense. Number one the increased tension of women around in small quarters can only lead to problems plus the cost of remodeling the sub for women quarters is a waste of money better spent to improve the sub for battle. I am not saying the women can not do the job but to endanger the sub safety to appease the women's movement shows a complete lack of regard for the military's primary function to be the best force in the world. look how many women become pregnant in the army in Iraq and other places.while serving, and the Navy aboard ships is a unreported question that was why the commander in the middle east put out the memo, which due to higher command pressure he had to cancel. but facts are facts

to those who beleive nothing will happen, check with the commands and see how may women have been discharged after becoming preganant while srving in the army, or aboard ship in the navy.. the commanding general had put a memoo out in regards to this but then was ordered to to retract it. by higher command. The idea women have to be able to be in every job a man has is what has diluted the military discpline to the point where there is not the strong forces there was. and the willines to win a war look how long we have been fighting the prewsent wars

While it may be a high stress environment, I think that women have every right to be on a sub. There are new regulations coming in to discharge and ban people from getting pregnant while in the force, which is fair considering what they do.
That being said, they are trained to have discipline and control in any situation, especially under fire. If these people can't resist basic urges (its not terribly hard for people who actually try) and can't control themselves due to some flirting and whatnot, I'm not sure how capable they would be under a real combat situation.
Many of our basic survival instincts actually are bad for us in a modern world, so the military has to train people to think clear and stay in control no matter what, so if they mean no matter what, then it shouldn't be a problem, if it is, those people shouldn't be on a sub anyways, in my opinion. |

Remodeling of the subs will not be necessary, as they are only assigning female officers to subs at this point, and officers already have their own quarters. And the single bathroom used by the sub's officers will be outfitted with a sign showing whether it's in use by men or women. (I think the Navy can afford a few sheets of paper and a marker.) And somehow there are other militaries in the world with women submariners (Australia, Canada, Norway, Spain and Sweden), and they seem to be okay with it, since they haven't changed their policies. |

Look, why can women fly planes, serve in co-ed units in the military, or even be in the Navy's Seal Team 6? Women in the military are trained not to be floozys, and mean and women are not going to throw themselves at each other because the are in cramped spaces.They are able to serve. |
