Being as how I am a Soldier, and I have served 3 tours in Iraq, I can assure you that "thousands of Iraqi's" have NOT been slautered by the US in Iraq.
I personally have administered first aid to Iraqi citizens injured by Suicide bombers (Rushdi Mullah, june 06) and car bombs (Mahmudiah, almost monthly 2006). How can you begin to think that the US is conducting acts of terrorism in Iraq?
Innocent people have died, I am not denying that. But it isn't intentional, and it isn't in the thousands.
Until you have lived it, you have not earned the right and privelege to criticize American foreign policy and Military actions in GWOT. |

We fight the political government of a country.
Al Qaeda targets civilians specifically. |

uhmmmm your not an American are you?,
News reports do not reach your house do they?,
If you watched the NEWS even an Arabic channel you will see Al Qaeda and its associates have killed more in Iraq than the US. The US has made error (true) and innocents have died, but the US troops do not dress them self up in bomb laden waistcoats and detonate them in a crowded Markets |

none dare call it treason ..lest it prosper..... if you would have seen the after effects of a B-52 bombing run dropping 750 pounders on the Republican guard out in the open desert you would know not to fuc with uncle SAM.... |

Dont you wish war was that cut and dry. Especially when the enemy dresses in the same clothes as civilians. |

Really? Have you seen this with your own eyes? Have you been to Iraq? Didn't think so.
Your closest encounter to a real battle is probably watching military videos on youtube. |

Iraq invades Iran, 500,000 Iraqis die.
Iraq invades Iran, 300,000 Iranians die.
Iraq kills its own people 200,000 more die.
Iraq invades Kuwait, 10,000 Kuwaitis die.
Iraq invades Kuwait, 100,000+ Iraqis die.
Iraq violates terms of ceasefire, ??,??? die.
- US removes the dictator and they are the bad guy?
Because thats why we went over there.
Now we are stuck there playing babysitter to a bunch of kids who have never been able to get along. I know you don't think things would magically get better if the US just left them....
When the people of the region finally grow up and join the 21st century things will get better. Until then they are just getting eachother killed.... What do you suggest?
The US has a long way to go to catch Saddams kill count. |

I think you're slightly misinformed...we are not the ones responsible for the vast majority of the killings of innocents in Iraq. Our troops do their best to minimize collateral damage and follow the rules of engagement while in a war zone. The insurgents don't give two craps about civilians. It might do you some good to research those deaths; you'd find out most were committed by our enemy and not our troops. But, I'm betting this was just a rhetorical question on your part. You don't want an answer; you just want it known you think our troops are out there "terrorizing" Iraqis while remaining blissfully ignorant of the actual facts. |

their toll is far higher, especially as there was no al-qaeda in iraq before the 2003 invasion |

Its not killing for the heck of it, it was for a cause, its high time that we need to stop counting this and think about the terrorism which still prevails unchecked inspite of the US interruption in horrible terrorist deeds. |

maybe, but the reasoning is different, and the reasoning is a BIG REASON that makes all the difference in the world. peace and freedom versus hatred and absolute power....dont know about you, but I'm for peace, and if war is a means to an end, then so be it. |

I wonder where you get your numbers, exactly. There are a lot of theories, but no actual counts. There is no way of knowing how many true civilians have been killed, and a lot of the figures for iraqi deaths since the start of the war include insurgents killing people with various explosives, since they have no problem killing their own. It depends on if your source is pro war or anti war. Also debatable are the claims that it was founded by the US, or that the CIA has EVER had any involvement in it.
What is not debatable is that since the war a lot of Iraqis have died, and a lot of Americans. And our country has not made any progress as far as our global image. And we have not even made a dent in "terrorism" because we aren't really fighting PEOPLE, we're fighting an IDEA. And you can't kill an idea, the more people we kill, the faster we're helping it to spread. |

To the extent that the US and, for that matter, Britain removed the Iraqi regime without having any form of proper post war planning they are indirectly responsible for the death of a considerable number of Iraqis. However, as others have pointed out to you the main difference between us and Al Qaeda is that the coalition hasn't deliberately targeted civilians. In short - terrorism is not a correct term to use in this instance. |

Of course the U.S. has done their fair share of terrorism. |

Penny Proud has the right answer. To add to her answer, who did Saddam work for prior to becoming supreme dictator? CIA, as an operative who was put into power to fight against Iran, who btw, threw us out of their country for meddling in their affairs for over 20 years (1952) and putting in a puppet dictator - the shaw of iran.
to prove the point, i'm sure anyone remembers seeing the pic of Rumsfeld shaking hands with Saddam during a visit?

Just because you're right doesn't mean that you're ever gonna win this argument. People don't want to admit that their sons and daughters are murderers. Even if they are. |

WAY more than Al Qaeda. Al Qaeda was created by the CIA in 1979 to carry out missions that the USA didn't want their name on; this has already been admitted by the Mujahideen. Iraq is not, nor has it ever been a threat to the superpower USA. |
