Hawks and doves: Vietnam?

I know that hawks were pro-war and doves were for peace, but for what reasons were the hawks pro-war?

The main concern at the time was the cold war. We were trying to prevent the spread of communism and the inflence of the Soviet Union. We fought a lot of small surrogate wars. Russia financed much of North Vietnam's war effort. The good thing about the war was that it bled the Soviet Union and its economy. I believe it was a large part of what caused the USSR to fail along with the arms race and the space race. I can't say if we should have fought it, just that it did have some good results.

blind faith in the government and they thought they were helping people be free. The Vietnamese didn't care about government they just wanted to grow rice in peace.
That's why we fought both north and south, most had friends and relatives in north and south. it was one country to most of them.
