He just left 4 the military how often will he be able to come back home?

Okay SO my boyfriend left for the military in california 4 a year. We are from NC. How often will he get chances to come home and for how long. I know he has every weekend off but what about holidays...How are long are the breaks 4 holidays?

umm doesn't work that way. he will be working weekends and most holidays they cannot go more than 350 miles( max, I have seen the restriction be much lower) from base.

longest break he MIGHT get is around Christmas time. But it really depends on what he is doing.. if he is in boot camp he will not be leaving at all. if he is in training he will not be getting ANY time off. if he is deploying..again.. NO time off.

don't expect to see him much if at all. because even if he DOES get some free time, he still has to pay for the plane tickets.

He gets 30 days of leave a year. If he wants to travel out of California, he must get authorization from his CO.
He may not have every weekend off. He could be pulling duty or training. Holidays depend.... Does it land on th weekend.. then it's just the weekend. Normally most get Federal holidays off

Where is he stationed?

I guess since he "just left" he is going through either Basic or Boot Camp... After that, then is AIT, then he could be authorized a 2 week vacation before going to his first duty station (where ever that might be)

I am assuming you mean after boot camp and training. Because you won't see him much then, and you won't see him much when deployed, if at all.

Otherwise, generally weekends and holidays they have time off. How much is dictated indirectly by his unit.

Ok,After boot camp he will have 2 weeks off for leave. Then he will be deployed either to a unit or school. Military schools can be as little as 2 weeks and up to a year depending upon the training he desires.don't feel so bad Military schools can be anyplace like in California or someplace on the east coast. If he goes directly to a unit and get deployed he may also have a chance to ask for a duty station . when he gets home tell him to go to every military school in his MOS. The more schools he better. Oh for holidays he may get off for 72 hours unless he has duty during that time. Now if he goes to school there may be a military school in NC. I hope this answers your question

He'll accumulate 30 days a year of leave. and usually there's a 4 day federal holiday or training holiday every month.
