There are always jobs available in AFSC's.
MEPS only gets 40% of the jobs to assign as guaranteed jobs.
The other 60% can only be assigned during Basic training.
When you enlist under an Open Area contract.
In Basic you will go talk to the job councilors.
They will give you a list of the jobs you qualify for in your open area ( admin, elec, mech, general )
That have Tech School slots open, right after you graduate basic.
The higher your asvab area score, the more jobs are offered.
BUT, not all jobs will be offered, since Tech Schools do not start every week, or even every month.
Your only offered jobs that have Tech Schools that start within a couple of weeks of you graduating basic.
You list your top 5 in order.
Most people get thier first job choice.
Why ? because your only offered jobs that have a slot open.
The Air Force does not stick you with a job, you will always be offered a list of jobs to choose from.
ND inspections - you basicly visually inspect aircraft for metal fatigue, corrision and other structural faults.
You also use specialized equipment to inspect aircraft, such as portable x-ray machines to find metal fatigue not visable to the naked eye.
It is not a matter of being hard to get.
If it is offered and your scores qualify you for it, then you can get it.
But if they do not have a Tech School class starting within a couple of weeks of you graduating basic, then they will not offer you that job.
You have to remember, some Tech Schools in the Air Force, only have two class's start each year.
It is just a matter of when you go to basic, as to what jobs will be offered at that time. |
