France is in Afghanistan under NATO, which was sanctioned by the U.N.

France is helping us in Afghanistan, they have sent some of their best troops there. The war in Iraq is different, 1) France had significant investment in Saddam's Iraq and was concerned about losing all that cash 2) Although we technically had grounds for renewed combat against Iraq, for violations of the 1991 Cease Fire, in 12 years, through 3 US presidents, 2 republican and 1 democrat we didn't do anything, except fire some cruise missiles and fire at air defense sites. |

Ditto to Australia and the other countries that do help us in the war.
Now as for France, one thing is they are a country with a very high Muslim immigrant population, also they are using it as a bargaining chip for future business in the region. Three, they are complete wussies with a short term memory of who kicked out occupying Germany in the 1940's
When the terrorist start attacking them and causing all kinds of destruction and mayhem who do you think they will call for help?
Germany, Italy, Russia....I think not, it will be the USA, the UK and Australia. Personally I hope we let them get their butts kicked.
But I really don't have any strong opinion on the subject....LOL |

Now that I've been on the French-bashing train....
They (namely, Chirac) hated America at the time, for no real reason. No, they have a rational leader (namely Sarkozy) who realizes that America and France are not true enemies. Unfortunately (or fortunately for France, which ever way you want to look at it) there is no need for aid in Iraq (they are in Afgah with NATO, they have to) right now, as the war is for all intents and purposes, won. |

If there wasn't a recent surge by Australia or a major pull by France
they are contributing more than twice as many troops to Afghanistan.
From the 40 something who are there only 3 are contributing more
than France and that would be (in order) the UK, Germany and Canada. |
