Help!! My daughter is having trouble?

My husband is in the marines and we are living far away from any of our relatives. We have a 4 year old little girl and she is not coping with the separation well at all! I let her talk to family every day on the phone, we go to the park/swim a lot but, I'm at a loss. Talking to family makes it better but it also reminds her of the long distance. Not talking to family is definitely harder on her though.
Any ideas how I can help my little girl cope with the situation?

We are stationed in San Diego and all of our family is in Texas. I don't believe there are any Marine bases in Texas. We manage to get home about 2 times a year sometimes 3 to see family and she is a totally different child during these visits. I hate seeing my daughter this unhappy

if your relatives have web cam you can always let her do a video chat with them- it might make things easier for her to transition.
4 years is a rough age- she's old enough to have emotional ties to people and still young enough to make it difficult to explain. Comfort her and reassure her she did nothing wrong- her other family members love her and miss her bunches.
I seen some where about grandparent/solider dolls, it's basically a big stuffed animal with a picture printed on it. Maybe that will help her. https://www.hugahero.com/

if you family lives near a base (within a couple of hours or so) try to move their for your next Duty station. if it is a long way away, have the family come a see you....if you dont mind, where do you live and where does your family live. it can help you |
