Help! Trying to pick a branch of service an info on IRR an rotc?

I am a 19yr old female and a high school grad. My first plan was to go to college an do AROTC but due to financial reasons I dont see it working out. I refuse to take out loans and i cant get a scholarship till my jr yr anyhow. I want to become an officer but I believe the best officers are ones who know what its like to be on the other side. Something about the USMC makes me want to join. I met with a usmc recruiter who said how do you kno u have what it takes to be an officer if you dont even kno u have what it takes to be a MARINE. I found that interesting but then again he could have been trying to say anything to get me to sign but usmc still appeals to me Go through the hardest basic, be a part of the elite and so on, then after my 4yrs go to college an do AROTC. My questions are.. is it possible to do AFROTC while in USMC IRR? I have to say that is my biggest fear having to wait 4more yrs till my IRR time is up b4 I can join another service. Has anyone ever herd of this type of thing b4? Should I just enlist in the af tho I hurd it is soo hard to get ocs in the aif force?
know i want to join the military I am an army brat both parents mom served in iraq I was also in njrotc. I know what military life is about and what it means to be an officer I just need help deciding the right path. I would love any help and listen to any advice the more the better.
Thank you all so much and I respect anyone serving or who have served in any branch
Sorry this is so long but im lookin for specific anwswers.

Wow,
Lot's of questions and a bit confusing but let me see if I can help...

1. You're not sure if you join the Marines if you can go into another branch until your IRR time is done?
a. Yes you can join them immediately. However I am confused if you are wanting to go Army or Air force after?

Here is my recommendation for you. Take a deep breath, relax, and realize that at this point you have all the opportunities in the world available to you. If your goal is to become an officer, you can enlist, and each branch has several enlisted to officer commissioning programs. None of them are easy to get and they all require you to cut through tons of red tape, however the good news is you are doing all this while you are in rather than trying to make ends meet from the outside. The other bonus is that if you make the military a career the time you spend trying to get accepted counts towards retirement.

Best thing you could do is figure out which branch of service you would like to be in, join that one and go for the officer program from the inside.

Whichever force you decide on, if at the end of your 4 years you want to swap, you don't have to wait the 4 years of IRR time to move on to another branch of service.

Best of luck, hope to see you in the Marines

Yes you can do any branch ROTC while in IRR.

marines arent elite...they might have a harder basic but thast just basic, it doesnt mean squat after being at your unit for a month or two. special forces are elite, rangers are elite, seals are elite, usmc recon are elite, but just being a MARINE (which is JUST a title) does not make you jane rambo.

anyway, yes u can do any branch's rotc while on irr...you can even switch to any branch as enlisted or officer while on irr.
if you want to be an officer in the army, why not go into the army as enlisted, get a mos or a duty station that will keep you state side as much as possible (like 68W+fort sam houstan...you'll just work at BAMC hospitol), do college while in the military, then do their green to gold program and become an officer through OCS?

You can indeed attend ROTC while in the IRR. You could even do ROTC while in the Reserves. However, you should know that the Air Force does not really take many prior service... primarily because they do not have to. Lots of people want to serve, but they want the least amount of work and the safest job so in their mind that means join the Air Force. They have so many people beating down their door to get in, parking tickets on a college campus will get you put out of ROTC.

If you go to the Marines for 4 years, then try to switch, the odds are good that you will not get into AFROTC.
