Help me find out who this solider is?

My brother is buried at the Indiantown Gap Cemetery in Pennsylvania, a few rows away there is solider that always has an empty grave. Every time I visit I take him flowers, and I make sure he has something on his grave at christmas, and I am unable to find out any more information on him. Is there anyone out there that can help me?

It has been 8 years of not knowing who he is, he was actually born three months later to the date of my birthday.
I have exhausted all my options on finding out who he is.
Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Write to the National Archives and obtain a copy of his service record. It will not be a complete life history, but it will tell you a little about him. Keep in mind that the process can take many weeks (6-8) so just be patient. I figure you have waited 8 years so another couple months will be nothing.
EDIT: Actually Eric S is wrong about him not dying during the time of the conflict in Afghanistan. The bombing started on 07 October 2001 and this man died on 11 Obtober 2001. However, he is not listed among the casualties from the conflict so he did not die in Afghanistan. |

have you tried going to the caretaker and asking about him there he might know some info on him |

i will see if i can find anything but i can gather a couple of things from the headstone. an AB is the lowest rank in the air force, normally upon graduating from basic training you are promoted to Airman, which would seem to indicate he was still in basic training. also the date of death is about 3 weeks after 9/11 and there were no major military operations going on at that time, which would also seem to indicate he was not killed in battle. |
