Help with A workout routine to prepare for boot camp?

Well I have 3 months to prepare and im working out at the gym for like 1-2hr's a day but don’t have a workout routine so im basically just running running running and doing mad push ups, pull ups and sit-ups since that’s what most people are saying to do but I do the same routine every day I know to get big you need to shock the muscles but my goal is just to prepare as best I can for boot camp.

Am I doing it all wrong ?
And if so I need some advice on what muscles to focus on and even better if someone can help with a weekly workout routine to prepare for boot camp?

Thanks
And for all those in the military You have my utmost respect.

First of all, congrats on your decision to join the Armed Forces!

Essentially, you are on the right track. Most branches of the military require you to exhibit cardiovascular endurance (running) and muscular strength endurance (push-ups/sit-ups). As a matter of fact, you should be expect to conduct a physical test semi-annually.

First, get with your recruiter and ask him/her what events you should expect to be tested on. Also, ask what the minimums and maximums for your age group for each event. From there you'll have a good idea of what to strive for.

The quickest way to building your cardiovascular endurance is to run. Run everyday. I suggest getting out of the gym and doing a variety of running outdoors as this is how you'll eventually be tested. Some good examples are stair climbing, cross-country running, and running on steep grades. I also suggest timing yourself bi-weekly to gauge where you stand against required standard.

To build your muscular strength, alternate exercising from your upper-body (arms) one day, to your mid-body (abs) the next and lower-body (legs) on the subsequent day. Each time you should try your best to achieve muscle failure. Doing this will allow recovery time between that day's specific focus, whether it be upper, mid or lower. Again, time yourself bi-weekly to see the progress you've made towards obtaining required goals.

Good luck in Basic Training!

It sounds like you are preparing yourself well for boot camp (I assume you are joining the Army). When you get there you will find out that most people did nothing to prepare themselves for it so you are already ahead of the game. Below I have included a link that shows you what you need to score to pass the Army PT test. A PT test is composed of push ups, sit-ups (each done in two minutes), and then a 2 mile run. If you are nervous if you are going to pass those tests; preform them before you arrive.

As for a workout plan; I would just do anything that improves your running and strength (which sounds like you are already doing that).

They will have a test before you even get into boot camp to distinguish the people that are really out of shape (but that test is easy to pass).

Here's a good site that covers all the branches.

And best of luck to you!

Moderation in almost all things2
To complete basic boot camp - you are on the correct path.
During Navy boot camp - well it was a long time ago - but still applies - is running, sit ups, and push ups.

Unless your going into the Navy Seals or UDT program then you'll need to be comfortable in the water.
I can not help you with the other services, but basic boot camp should be survivable - remember no matter what happens they WANT you alive. (There will be bad hours, there always are.) You'll do fine.
The Army and Marine boot camp are more physical - but you sound ready.

You have seen Hollywood movies about boot camp - ya know the Sargent yelling and all. Well that's Hollywood - but well, be ready for some weird stuff, but you'll be fine.

A few guys will have hard time adjusting to being away from home - really. And 40+ guys getting to know each other - a lot can happen. There is stress for some.

Good luck to you.
