The Navy are my brothers in arms. As a US Marine, i know plenty of Navy guys who can hang with and in some cases out do their Marine Counterparts. Do what suits you. Navy Corpsmen ( our field medics) have not gone through Marine Corps Recruit Training, but I consider them Marines. Navy EOD, SWCC, and Seals are all bad a$$. I wouldnt count on anyone other than a US Marine to have my six going into a situation, but thats a brotherhood thing. In my opinion, someone in the Navy has far more in common with us than anyone in the civillian world and they take the same oath as we do (To support and defend the constitution). Don't worry so much what people think. The best of the best (SEALS and MARINE RECON) dont care what people think, most of the time they wont even tell people who they are and what they do. Even in the far more common non combat jobs in the Navy, theyre still highly dedicated individuals trying to do their part. |

We coexist with each other. The Marine Corps doesn't have medics, docs, chaplains, etc so we rely on the US Navy. Also we have naval tradition (the anchor for the EGA) which puts us in the Department of the Navy. The other branches are also necessary. I think we hate to admit it but every branch has their own strengths and weaknesses. We are always arguing with each other about who is the best but it's like a sibling rivalry. At the end of the day, we will fight for a common goal which is to protect the US from all threats foreign and domestic. Semper Fi.
EDIT: If you wanted to hear the stereotypical opinions that most Marines make.... Army is weak, Air Force is even weaker, and the Navy are pillow biters... (Noted: Not my personal opinion!) |

I assume your asking because your interested in joining and are worried what people think. I am not in the military but am considering joining and the Navy is at the top of my list. I have told people this and yeah I've gotten made fun of by some ignorant people. People will call you Seamen and laugh, they will call you some gay jokes 'cause they think Sailors are gay, whatever. Don't let this stop you from joining if you want. I laugh in the faces of these ignorant people and you should too. |
