I live in Junction City right now. It's adjacent to Ft. Riley. When we moved here December 2007 there was a 8 month waiting list for on post housing, so needless to say, we live off post.
I personally love JC. It's not all that trashy. I dont know why people say that. Compared to Manhattan, it's smaller and there arent as many things to do, but it's not a college town. I've lived in a college town (while I was in college) and I'm over it. The higher prices, the roudy kids, the extremely high rent! They can keep it all. JC exists because of Ft. Riley and the town reflects the Army.
I dont know really want you want to know about. I work in a school and I can say the public school system it's great, but they do what they can. There are lots of parks. Very dog friendly town.

I absolutely loved Ft. Riley! Its full of so much history!! The worst thing about it is that it's in the middle of no where. Junction City is one of the trashiest towns but Manhatten is only like 15 minutes its where K-State is. It has a small mall and a few restaurants. About 1 1/2-2 hours from Kansas City. Lawerence is also another fun town. A lot of people don't like it but I'm not the type to look at all the negatives. You must look for the positives and find fun stuff to do. |

I can't...but...It's possible I can help you even more than by answering your question. My wife uses a website called cafe mom. I guess google it? It's not just for moms, but army wives all use it. I guess they have these groups on there and they talk all day about stuff like this.
It's geared more for your needs than this site is. With this site you will get alot of sarcasm from people and such. (not all, from some people!)
