Ok, here's the deal....I need help coming up with some slogans for homecoming signs for our sailors who are returning from the desert and have been gone 6 mths...Anyone have any ideas, it would be MUCH appreciated!!!

Thanks, many of you have great ideas..on the other hand some of you are plain rude or think i am nuts because i say sailor and the word desert in the same sentence...well let me clarify..They are navy (so technicaly they are sailors) and YES they have been in the desert!!! I didnt post this to start a big deal it was intended to be a simple question...

Popular signs around here have been:
Take offs on the MC commercials: Homecoming haircut - $15, new outfit - $45...Having my sailor home - priceless.
If the unit has a city "sponsor" a takeoff on that. Like when the Memphis came home "Stop singing the blues...the Memphis is home" or the Annapolis "Stop your crabbin'..." Tying into the musical history of one city and the renowned sea creature of another.
Cup signs are big if you have a stretch of chain link fence and people who can come up with the pattern.

Anything will do, trust me!! As a Sailor who served in Viet Nam, I know that ANYTHING will be better than what WE received. And I dont mean to shift focus. The Men coming home will be HAPPY as hell to BE home. And as far as the response from the wise ***, Ya gotta consider the source, a non-veteran I'll wager. |

From the DESERT? Sailors? Umm.. well if they have been in the desert, do something like with the ocean or lots of water. Or do something out-of-this world and totally unrelated so they feel like they are leaving the stress behind! Outer space, you could do a city background and have park benches and stuff, you could do clouds like cloud 9 heaveny themed, maybe match your theme to how everyone is going to feel having them home and how they are going to feel BEING home. |
