I'll be going home from Iraq soon.
I tell you this, when im at home and i see those stickers I do feel supported. It is nice to see them. It feel appreciated.
Yes it helps us. I see less and less of those stickers lately, but it helps us.
If you want to help us, vote for someone who is going to keep us in Iraq, and let us finish the job. So our brothers who have died will not die for nothing. |

Okay let me start by saying that I am a Coroporal in the United States Army and I have been to Iraq twice, Bosnia once, and Central America severeal times. It used to be part of the proceeds that came from the sales would go towards care packages and free phone cards for troops. That is no longer the case. People nowadays would rather just say that they support the troops...
A good example of this is go to any store, restraunt, or anywhere that claims to support the troops, and then ask for a military discount and be prepared to be laughed at. |

While having that yellow magnet "Support the troops" on your car conveys the message, you drive your car around the city so that people would see that message. By this, you continue to consume precious gasoline. This means that America will continue to be dependent on Iraqi oil, the main reason why Iraq invasion took place. This will be even so when you're driving around in a gas guzzler like an Expedition. The only real way to support troops is to do things that will save fuel like using smaller cars, switching-off the extra lights in your bedroom, etc.. |

Having something like that on your car may not serve any direct purpose to the soldiers in Iraq, but it does show that you support them. It's all about showing support. |

Not as good as the American flags they all put out after 9/11.
Since then the blue has turned purple, the red has turned pink and the white is gray. Not only a waste of time but desecration.
Perhaps if more had actually gone to visit a wounded veteran at a VA or Military Hospital the Walter Reed Scandal wouldn't have happened. |

It show the troops that they have support back home. Its something to help them mentally not physically. |

I don't think the actual yellow magnets do anything but show your opinion as the previous post mentioned. If someone wants to make a tangible impact on the life of a soldier/airman/sailor/marine/coastie/res... (etc) then check out the websites affiliated with anysoldier.com. |

What a great question...I've been wondering the same thing. Can't wait to read what the democracy spreading, freedom loving 'rah-rah we got a war crowd ' writes about this one..I know one thing..they haven't connected the dots as far as their great big gas guzzling SUV's and the war in iraq...they got their heads in the sand ...again... |

My boyfriend whose a soldier in Iraq feels he needs to be there to help finish the job. Having the yellow car mangnet on your car may not mean sh*t to you because you'e not in the military! Support the troops, they appreciate! Many are working very hard to help keep our country and your as* safe. |

Don't you support are troops , it's just a way of letting people know we are supporting our troops. There a lot more in America for you to worry about than a little magnet saying we love or support our troops. I support all our troops everyday100% not 3 years ago but everyday and you should do the same. If you don't get out of America and live wherever suit your needs but I plan on staying in America and supporting our troops. By the way to show your way of supporting our troops hit that recruiting office , suit up, grab you a rifle take that button off wherever and support are troops with your life. |

In short, it doesn't do much. Sometimes though (depending on where you bought it) profits made from the sales of those magnets go to our troops. Not directly, as in that money becomes cash in their pockets, but indirectly, as far as expanding programs designed to benefit returning troops and their families. |

Many of those cars you see with the yellow ribbons and bumper stickers have friends and relatives who are currently serving in the armed forces. The ribbon is not to make them feel good about themselves, it's to show the troops at home that they support them. A simple thing such as a bumper sticker, a hand shake or even a "thank you" goes a long way to a member of the armed services. |

No, that "Yellow Ribbon" won't stop a roadside bomb, nor will it stop a sniper's bullet but unless you have been a troop who has survived these things and is able to come home safely to your loved ones and see that "Yellow Magnet" on that Expedition - You will never know the power it has. |

The only thing signs do is to keep the sign-makers
in business. I can't understand why politicians running
for office buy millions of dollars worth of signs and
stick in yards with their name on it. Who votes for a
person because they happen to like their sign best?
(I hope nobody does anyway). Car magnets are just
people making a statement, that's all. It does not have
any magical powers. One thing I did enjoy was after
911 when every car had an American flag waving.
YES !!!!!!!!!! It seemed everyone was making the same
statement. I love America. We were almost "United"
again, but the love has died, we're divided, and about
to get a divorce and the United States is not united now.
Sad. |

By putting a yellow magnet on your car and leaving it there, you gaurantee that your paint will not fade evenly, and will leave a shiny spot where the magnet blocks the sun.
This will lower the resale value of the car, so that when a soldier comes back from iraq missing an arm, and with PTSD, and can't maintain a decent job, they will still be able to afford your car. |

It lets the people stationed over seas know that they are appreciated and there is no better way to give support to them and their families that are here. |

We have been at war with radical Islam since Iran took our embassy people hostage during the Carter administration. We chose to ignore this disease known as international terrorism for decades. We finally realized that we are at war after the attack on 9/11. The only reason it ended up in Iraq right now is Saddam overplayed his hand. He would still be in power if he had cooperated with the UN inspectors. He liked making everyone believe he had horrible weapons. After 9/11 we could not take the chance that he did and might provide the technology to terrorists. Since we were still at war with Iraq since Dessert Storm, we took the opportunity to take out his perceived threat.
The terror supporting countries in the region realize the threat to them that a Free Iraq would pose, have been supporting the insurgency with money and sophisticated weapons. The disease of fundamentalist Islam tyranny cannot abide the cure that liberty brings to the long suffering people of the Middle East. |

Funny the left hypocrisy. Okay for the usual Hate Bush/Blame Bush stickers that plaster mostly older non-efficient cars heading to get a soy latte. I'm sure the insurgent that blows himself up in front of that check point feels you support him.
But if a family puts a ribbon on there car or a flag on their lawn. Liberals get all upset that they want to let their son/daughter know they are in their thought....sad your political bias blinds you so much. |
