Can someone explain? I know you must be in the army or marines first (so i hear) Can a Canadian serving in the british military be in SAS?

I don't know if a Canadian can get in or not, but I do know that the SAS is one of if not the hardest regiments to get into in the world (I suspect a Canadian might be accepted as one of the UK's closest and most dependable allies, but I don't know for sure). You have to be part of another elite regiment already and have all the right qualities - not just physically, but mentally and emotionally, too, in order to stand a chance. Even then, they test you pretty harshly.
From what I've read, if you are too extrovert or introvert, you won't get in. If you can't keep a secret you have no chance. You have to be in absolutely top physical condition, above average intelligence, and possessing high endurance and good strength. You have to be able to think fast on your feet and be mentally strong, because you may have to spend weeks or even months behind enemy lines as part of a small (four man) team.

Yes and you need to be an NCO.You will still need to undergo the very rigorous selection procedure. |

You need at least 3 years service (I think) in the British army. Like all members of the Commonwealth and Ireland, Canadians can join the British army. However preference will be given to British applicants. Canada also has it's own special forces unit that is allied to the SAS, the Joint Task Force 2 (JTF2). |

Sorry, I don't know this (I'm American) but my uncle who was an Army Special Forces guy (also American) trained with SAS and he said that most that he was with went through the British Royal Marines school or whatever they do. . so that might be something of it IDK. |
