How can I get a job as a police officer in the Marines (Military Police)?

I want to get a job as a police officer in the Marines because I need the training to get a job in the FBI. What type of ASVAB scores will I need and do I get to choose my job depending on my scores? Please be detailed. And yes, I really do want to become a Marine. I do understand the consequence and what could happen.

Just so you know, you don't need to be an MP to get an FBI job. But if that's what you want, I would suggest you do as best as you can on the ASVAB. Aim for a 75 or higher. The higher the better. I know a guy who got a 74 and has his MOS as an MP. But the most I can say is do as best as you can on the ASVAB, if you score high, you will most likely get the MOS of your choice. Good luck. |

My nephew joined the Marines, please be careful. They'll tell you anything to get you in there, then they own you and can do anything they want with you. He's not doing what they promised nor anything remotely like it. He had very high test scores so that doesn't seem to factor into their decision. Good luck. |

The minimum unwaived AFQT for USMC is 32. For the 5811 MOS is GT=100. Your GT (general technical) score is based on your AR (arithmetic reasoning) and VE (verbal expression, which is a combination of word knowledge and paragraph comprehension). Very, very, very few people get guaranteed MOSs in the Marine Corps (mostly incredibly high ASVABs or college degrees). You'll probably enlist under a "guaranteed field", which would group a bunch of like jobs together. |

I do not believe The Marines have MP'S, I could be wrong but im pretty sure they dont. with medics for example, the marines do not have any, Navy Coremen are the medics when marines go into battle, so I would guess that Navy Shore Patrol (Navy Police) do the same for the Marines. every other branch has MP's so if you are dead set on being an MP Join Army (Military Police) Navy (Shore Patrol) Airforce (secuirty forces) and unlike the Army with the marines you will not be so flexible in choosing your job, you will join and chances are you will be infantry, army is only branch where as long as you qualify for it you get it in writing in your contract and cannot be changed. you will not need a high asvab but you cant get a bad one, shoot for 60-70 or above, but the asvab is broken down into sections, GT is the most important section and what they are looking for, the rest just combine into your overall test score. go to recruiter and you can take practice asvab to see where you stand, good luck |
