My dad's a Navy Veteran. I'm one of his two little girls. I want to join the Navy to see the world, become a stronger woman, and to be a part of something worth while. should I just spit it out?

Just tell him that you have made up your mind about a career and you hope he will support you in your decision. I don't think he will try to talk you out of it, but expect him to ask if your sure you can handle it. Then tell him you would appreciate him going with you to speak with a recruiter. Most likely he will appreciate you talking to him before the recruiter and letting him play a part in your decision. |

Spitting it out??? -- ok lets try this! Say to your father (after dinner) Dad, what would say if I told you I wanted to join the Navy! THEN SHUT UP, and let him speak. He'll soon talk himself out of objections. (If you've done your homework, and went to the Local Navy recruiter and got a brochure explaining the way the Navy has changed and how Woman are appreciated and well treated- you can lay that on the table) Go on line and find some Woman Naval officers - show dad! You be an adult and tell him, "dad this is what I'm going to do, I hope you'll support me in my decision." and no matter what he says stand by your conviction. It might take awhile but he'll come around. |

dads can be very understanding. just tell him he rasied you right and want to do the same as he did. protect your nation |
