How can i delay my Air Force BMT ship date?
I have been in DeP since November, I was hoping for a BMT date in january but was delayed by a concussion. Since i had the concussion I had started taking some college courses, (I like to remain efficient with my time, and not having a set date yet) In late February, 4 weeks into the semester. My recruiter told me i had a ship date for April 21st.
I then told him that I would like to finish the college courses first, and leave a month later, in late May or early June. He had agreed to me that, that was OK and completely managable.
Now April 21st is around the corner, and his chain of command is calling me for the PAST test for PJ's. I replied that i had already had an understanding that i would be getting another date in June. Though this was the first she had heard of.
Now I am being threatend that if i do not leave, there is a good chance i will not be able to leave for August, or will never be able to get a PJ spot.
I scored 313/326 points on my first PAST test, so i know im qualified.
Is this just a scare tactic? Does she just not want to do paperwork or something?
Am i responsible for this? What should i do?

This sounds very much like one hand not knowing what the other is doing. Work through your recruiter and let them know that it is very important to you to complete this semester of college. It should be very important to the AF as well because they receive a new Airman with a little better education. Good luck and be firm. With your scores the PJs will still be there. |
