how are they fighting for our freedom in Iraq and and Afghanistan? If we hadn't invaded Iraq, how would my freedom have been affected? And who doesn't support the men and women over there? Not supporting the war and occupation is not the same as disregarding the Americans who are over there fighting. It is more in the hopes that thousands of young men and women won't have to die and be injured again for wars that are seriously misguided (and have nothing to do with defending freedom in the United States). |

I support the troupes but i don't support the administration. Freedom isn't free but we don't have to die over this either. We are civilized and have technology way beyond most. In addition to that I think as a whole we expect anything and everything and confuse the ability to fuel our SUV's when we want as a freedom. Also for the record the problem we are facing is one religion doesn't fit all. |

i support the troops themselves for bieng so selfless and brave and honorable... but to say it's for freedom?!! our freedoms are deminishing rapidly... this country was freed by a group of people who are probably rolling over in their graves at what our "free" country has become!! i applaud our armed forces for their commitment to our freedom... i just wish we actually had the freedom! |

If no one had people fighting for their own freedom then there would be nothin to worry about. The cure is its own problem. |

I'm British so we are in Iraq as well. I know many people who opposed the war and although they are against it we still support the british troops out there, just because we don't agree with their orders doesn't mean we don't support the troops. |

while i disagree with the whole jesus thing...i say support our troops. you don't have to agree with the war but they need our support to keep their spirits up. they probably want to be home with their families now, anyway. everyone needs support. |

I hope you are not confusing not supporting the Iraqi war and Bush's policies with not supporting the troops. I'm 100 % against being in Iraq but I realize the truth is that there are American soldiers there and not supporting them will do nothing to bring them home.
Bottom line, I do not support the war but I support the men and women in uniform doing their duty. |

I think this question was also asked some years ago. Only back then it was the Nazi party asking it of the German people. I DEMAND freedom b/c that is what has been given to me by the Constitution of the United States of America. What cracks me up is that you support our troops who are "just doing their job" but would protest in a second an abortion doctor "just doing his job". |

I think the problem is that most people support our troops but not how they are being used. |

I saw the coolest movie this Weekend Team America...there was a song on there that said...Freedom is not free..It cost people like you and me... La La La..,somthing...somthing...Freedom costs a buck o five...
Look past the humor and The song is so right...To be in a free country... to be able to walk down the street and not have to worry about being killed because you are different was the way of this country but not anymore... Our own civil war paved the way of all of us to be free... and Other countries feel threatened by that...We need to stand up and be leaders and support our country even if it is not what you believe...Our president...is our front man and Our troops our his back up dancers...Support the Our Team... They our working for us...I have a friend in Turkey and they still beat blacks in the streets...or take them from their homes and beat them or even kill them and the police or government does nothing...So think on that...When you complain about our troops...Every man is in titled to live free... Why not share this way of life...Protect this way of life...and any who want to partake in it... Support our men,and women who Die for strangers(Americans, and other Man kind) that is the ultimate show of love for man and country...To put your life on the line just to be...free to be... |

I think the premise of your question is skewed. I think there is a very small minority out there that actually doesn't support the troops. They are pacifists and liken soldiers to baby killers and mass murderers.
I think that the majority of anti-war protesters would tell you that their protests and actions are not against the troops but against the government and its policies. In their mind they are supporting the troops because they see their actions as removing troops from harms way. I think that most of them also believe that the Actions in Iraq and Afghanistan have nothing to do with our freedom, but everything to do with political and corporate gain.
This is America and the pacifists and the anti-war protesters are entitled to their opinions no matter how misguided they may be. IT is what makes this country great. |

They are fighting for no good reason, they are doing their job and doing it as well as they can with what they are equipped with. I do support the troops but I do not support the war they are fighting as it has nothing to do with my or anybody else's freedom in this country. It is a war about greed and enriching the already very rich and powerful. The government has lost direction and needs to be taken back by the people in the next election. |

Questioning the government, its actions, its wars, and its competence in carrying out its wars is the very essence of what being an American and having freedom is really all about. You are incredibly arrogant if you believe that people who disagree with you or with your party are un-American. Believe it or not, your party is not our country. There is a difference. If you can't see that difference, then you have a lot of nerve lecturing anyone about freedom, because you don't seem to have much of a clue about it yourself. |

well our soldiers sign up on their own and its their duty to follow orders. they are just doing their job. they need our moral support. |

So many people say they support our soldiers. If you have a yellow sticker on your truck and say your support your troops - guess what, you don't. If you are trying to get them pulled out before they finish the job, guess what - you don't - because these same soldiers will be fighting the same battle at another time and location (anyone remember Mogadishu). Support is more than sticking a sticker on a vehicle, or posting a pro-troop rhetorical question online. Send someone a care package, volunteer at a soldier recovery center - or the greatest support of all, volunteer your service in the military and help us get the job done sooner. All services are accepting new recruits. |

well crazy4Christ i understand how you feel, and i for one thank you from the bottom of my heart. i believe that most people do support our troops although they don't all support our policies and that is fine, you see people like myself gave them this right we defended this great country of ours so that people can speak their own minds without persecution. now people can tell you what they want about Afghanistan and Iraq, i have seen both firsthand and what we are doing there is the right thing to do, people have freedom they have never had before they can now speak their minds without being taken out and executed as over 380,000 were under Saddam's regime. in Afghanistan woman can now go to school and play a role in governing their country under the Taliban they could not, and you really don't want to know what they did to people who didn't follow their twisted Islamic law. once again thank you for support of our troops...God bless. |

I am ex-military. I was in for seven years. Ours is a volunteer force now. We choose to serve, and I didn't choose to serve, so that some people could use vague conceptions of "freedom" as a sort of weapon to try to bash others into shame or agreement with the policies of whatever administration. If your concept of freedom doesn't include freedom of conscience, then you care more about feeling righteous, than being free.
I am also a historian, and while the role our military has played in protecting our liberties is honorable, we have come to hold it in such high esteem that it has eclipsed reality. The freedom we enjoy today is chiefly owed to those whom fought the good fight through social activism. For instance, It wasn't our military that forced our government to allow women and racial minorities the right to vote, and that's just one example of thousands. |

It's not that the troops are not supported...it's the Government who sent them to War, that is not supported.
You would have to be a real @ss wipe, not to support our troops?
By the way, they are not fighting for our freedom.
One of the few names that have been given to this War, is Iraqi Freedom and it's a shame that our Great Men and Women have to die in a Country who doesn't care a bit about the USA!
The War in Iraq has nothing to do with our freedom being threatened here in the USA. It's just a lot of Conservative Bull S__T! |

I think most people support our troops and the service that they are doing to defend our freedoms, it's the war that people don't support. |

In my opinion it is not that people don't support the troops, it's that they don't support the reason for fighting anymore. The American people have watched Bush make stupid mistakes and watched the number of american lives lost rise, and yet he still has not pulled our troops out. My husband is in the army, I support the troops one hundred percent, but there are many troops that do not feel that the war is justified anymore. When the soilders are questioning motive, have we forgotten what we are fighting for? |

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you...
Jesus Christ and the American G. I.
One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.
You Might Want To Pass This On As It Seems Many Have Forgotten Both! |
