How can you become a commissioned officer in the US army, navy and airforce?
Find answers to your legal question.

How can you become a commissioned officer in the US army, navy and airforce?

prince William(england) is an officer in the Royal Navy and a lieutenant in the British Army, he is also training to become a royal air force pilot.

Is this possible in the US?

No. There is no royal privilege in the US.

The process is generally one of these.

1. Go to college. Get a 4-year degree (or higher). Apply in one of the branches for OCS (Officer Candidate School). If you make it through OCS, you can get your commission.

2. Go to college in an ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) program. There, as part of your curriculum you'll learn about the military in general and about the branch that's sponsoring the program. The military will pick most or all of the tuition and maybe even give you a small stipend. In return you commit to six (I think) years in that branch. If you fail to make it as an officer, I believe you get to spend your commitment as an enlisted person.

3. Go to one of the service Academies. This is highly competitive and requires the support of your elected representative. There too, your tuition is paid for and you are allowed a stipend while attending for which you commit to a certain number of years as an officer.

4. Enlist. Work your way up through the enlisted ranks. Eventually you might make officer rank. Probably the slowest.

5. I believe all the services have programs whereby an enlistee, if accepted into the program, is effectively stationed at college where he studies and gets his degree on the military. After he graduates I believe he attends OCS and receives his commission. Probably the most practical, and beneficial and to the services.

hamper?
i know here in the states you can be commissioned as an officer straight out of college. you can also go to places such as the air force academy.

I didn't know he was in more than one branch, but if he is I think that's just because he's in the Royal Family. Here you are in one branch or another, not multiple ones. The only exception is the President, who is Commander in Chief of all the branches. I doubt they even let civilian British citizens be part of more than one branch of the military.

NO! They have different rules for the British Royalty!

In the U.S. YOU will need a 4 year College degree, a decent GPA and a degree that the military can use in order to get an Officers commission.
