How come military recruiters and MEPS dont look at medical records?

Because it would be too time consuming to do so.

The catch is: if you lie on your enlistment application, then go to Basic Training and get injured, the medical folks at that base WILL check your medical records, and you may be discharged. Your Discharge could range from "Failure to meet procurement medical standards" all the way up to "Fraudulent enlistment."

A lot of people have made the same gamble you are making, some successfully, some not.

I am a recruiter and concerning med records we only know what you tell us. If you're ever told to conceal any records then move on to another recruiter. It's our job to ask. Not to hide.
Other things such as law can be a matter of national security so we make you fill out a police record check.
Realize that if you're lying to us then you're taking your own life into your hands. If something happens to you and it's found out that you had this condition previously then it's possibly on you. Be honest with the recruiter. I hate when people try to lie to me.

they dont look unless you give them em a reason to. for instance during basic if a kid starts wheezing and gasping for air while running, then obviously somethings up and they will take a look. you have to remember it would take hundreds of hours and resources to look up every single persons medical record. 50000 people go through boot camp each year, they have to know not everyones clean

where are they going to find those.
There is a bazillion different doctors in the united states with each one having their own personal record system. Its not like they do with the police and just call the court house and ask if you have any speeding tickets, there might be 30 doctors in one hospital with the same name.

In some cases YOU cant even get access to your medical records. Good luck for uncle sam.

Where would we look ? If you check yes to any medical conditions that are waiverable it's up to you the applicant to provide the records for consideration by the MEPS Doctor. Besides that is private information and not acessable to recruiters and MEPS personnel.

Okay I had back surgery back in high school in 03, recruiter told me to put it on my app. I did and was disqualified. I waited a few years became a cop, tried to join recruiter said sure tell we can get you a waiver, was once again disqualified. I went and saw two doctors thats MEPS wanted me to go see they passed me, but MEPS denied me. Recruiter tried getting a Senators recommendation, but was still denied. I was told by a friend to try and go back over to the navy and try with them, that they use different doctors and it wont come up, anyone have any advise, or am I just dead in the water, no go?
