How come the Military can't beat the insurgents who are equipped with flintstone era weapons?

Since when is command-detonated bombs, AK-47's, AK-50's, RPD's, RPGs, shoulder-launched SAM's, being FINANCED from and recruiting from other Islamic nations,and hiding among a civilian populace to inflict more casualties on your own countrymen considered stone-age equipment and tactics. The Stone-Age era warriors at least had the courage to face their opponents in battle and protect their clans... but then again, look at what happened to those Neanderthals that used those oh so primitive ideas and weapons...they're extinct! Not a bad idea really if the terrorists would all just use those Flintstone era weapons. PS. I like the way Texas Sweetie expresses herself. If she ever wants to marry an old man like me....well just give me the word. Thanks hon...for your honesty!

We are not allowed to.Our policy is do not fire unless fired upon.Many of the towns where the violence is are all Saddam loyalists,in a real war the whole town would be carpet bombed and it would be all over.If a war is not fought on the basis of totally destroying the enemy it will always drag on and create more strife.

America is half way fighting the war.. You can't half way fight a fight. The USA, doesn't want to look like we are going in and destroying Iraq. It would look to the world like we were bullies. Mean while back at the ranch, Our men and women are being blown up. Iraq was a freaking mistake from the get go. War is war. Go in and do what you got to do to get it over with.. But like I said, America has a poor leader.. What do you expect?

I heard the insurgents also stole weapons and ammo from Iraqi army supplies that were left unguarded post-invasion.

Then again, this is asymmetrical warfare. The US can't win because they can't kill every insurgent or drive them all out of the country. The insurgents can't lose because all they have to do is live to fight another day.

They have an objective from their commander in chief. They are doing what they are ordered to do. Their loyalty lies with their country and their commander in chief and they protect us at all costs. Rather than condemning them for their loyalty, you should be thanking them for being brave enough to stand up for what they believe it. Personally, I don't like the war. My husband was killed at war, this war, and I have 3 brothers and a nephew all fighting this war but I would never EVER...ask them to retreat because I know they wouldn't, and I would never EVER in a million years condemn a soldier for doing what he had to do, and you couldn't pay my family enough money to walk away from something before completing their objective. One thing they are NOT are cowards. They believe in what they are fighting for. Instead of trashing the military and harping on things they should of or shouldn't have done, you should be supporting ALL of them. Frankly I'm surprised with your experience that such thing would even come out of your mouth. Many of these soldiers died because they believed in what they were doing. It doesn't matter what country, the military is there for the country and you should be ashamed of yourself for not having the guts to stand up and support them, or watch their flank. What kind of soldier are you? It's people like you that get your comrades killed. You need some serious help.

sorry to say -- we could win easily -- if the troops were allowed to -- rules of engagement, ect --our administration dosen't want to hurt them too bad-- it is a shame -- remember vietnam ? take care Brother-- USN-72-76

part of the problem is they dont really know who they are. they look just like everyday civilians. plus they have help hiding in plain sight meaning the civilians that have a "good relationship" with the military hide and aid these insurgents. untill the iraqi people step up and really take control of their country it would stop. but apparently they dont mind there countrymen being blown up by other countrymen.

It would be easier to defeat them if they wore a recognizable uniform. Too many blend right in daily with the local citizens and it's hard to tell who the bad guys are. The insurgents are more well armed than you think. Some of their RPGs and other supplies are coming in from Iran and Syria. The problem is simple. With the help of the Iraqi Army and Police, disarm everyone not providing security and get the borders secured to prevent insurgents and weaponry from entering.

There is a subtle difference between what you call an insurgent, and what Americans call a patriot. They are defending their land and their beliefs.

Its hard for a lot of americans to believe that the world doesn't want to be like americans - despite the overwhelming evidence. Its even harder for about half of americans to believe that the other half of americans don't want to be like them.

Americans are arrogent, and their egos have gotten them into trouble again.

You should hang your head in same, but not for the reasons you give.
