LOL, it's just an extra word the liberals stick in there to try to make it sound like it could be illegal. What they totally disregard is the fact that Congress and the UN both agreed with the attack on Iraq. There was nothing illegal about it. In fact, there is nothing illegal about any war. Wars are a nasty business and they should be avoided at all cost but when you have idiot radical Muslims wanting to kill everything that isn't Islamic (and many thousands that are Islamic), there is no choice in the matter.

First thing is because if they say it long enough and often enough people will believe it. Just look at all the actors that keep saying it.
Secondly it is because they do not want to face the fact that congress gave the President the power to declare war and he did. whether it is right or wrong he did declare war.
Lastly it should be remembered that we have the right to defend this country in a war that was brought on us by terrorist and we, this time, refuse to say we are sorry for you attacking us and how much money can we pay you to stop doing it again!

they are saying "illegal war" because it was levied by the president and is not a specific power delegated to him. it is congress' constitutional power to levy war, but over the ages it has become an implied power of the president.

The only way for war to be legal is for Congress to make a formal declaration of war against another country--its political leaders and its military.

It has been declared illegal by a number of authorities, though you may personally feel that the concept of "international law" is not valid.

Even Richard Perle, Rumsfeld's boy, said that "international law ... would have required us to leave Saddam Hussein alone", and that there was "no practical mechanism consistent with the rules of the UN for dealing with Saddam Hussein".

The Sec General of the UN also said it was illegal, as have virtually every expert on international law.

The case for the War being a violation of U.S. law may be less clear cut, but the case can be made that the authorization was given to pre-emptively eliminate the threat of WMD's, and once WMD's were proven not to be threat, then the autorization was no longer valid.

If you follow the Constitution, all of the armed conflicts have been illegal since world war II. The united States Congress has to declare war and they have not!
