The NY Times is very interesting. Ukraine has also indicated that they will not allow Russia to continue to expand the war without becoming involved.
The U.S. has indicated that they will not intervene. The only thing that will bring about a larger conflict is if Russia continues its venture and causes a regional conflict. If you start to see Russian forces doing more than roll back the Georgian military venture, the realities and reactions of the world will be different. I think Putin is smart enough to know when to stop and I am not concerned.

Its hard to say, it depends what the next move is, and if the cease fire goes into effect. But if it turns into a full blown war, georgia will be crushed unless they get help from their allies. |

im not concerned about the war, but im concerned about the peaple that are being killed in this war. i have been following this conflict in Georgia way way back. The it all started way back in 1989 when Georgia became a country of its own. When it became a country S. Ossetia and Abkhazia wanted to became a countries of its own to and thats when all started. What is today is that has started long time ago and is just got louder. and my opinion is that S. Ossetia and Abkhozia have every right to become a seprate countries as Kosovo became. |

RUSSIA is a PROVOCATIVE AGGRESSOR
It started with Ossetian Provocations on the de facto borders. However, After little shootouts Georgia declared unilateral cease fire. It lasted several hours but Ossetian separatists - or let me say the ones that did not wish to stop - continued shooting and taking "lives of Georgian villagers".
Georgia was alarmed and decided to "restore constitutional order" in the region or maybe they meant over the ones that did not stop shooting. Anyhow, that is what Russians waited for so long and decided to "make them pay" (Vladimir Putin) for what they did. (what they did on their OWN sovereign territory.)

prompting Georgia to think it was a well pre planned provocation. and that is what I think. Russia does not want Georgia to enter NATO. Russia does not want stable Georgia. I am sure they will find something with Ukraine too. Things like pro Russian region Crimea in Ukraine and so on and so forth to mount tensions and Black mail them. Very aggressive. War criminals !

i am very concerned georgia is a tiny country and i dont understand people that blame georgia for staring the war country little as georgia would not want to start a war with country big as russia commen sence russia doesnt care about osetian people being killed when osetian people died in a war russia didnt help any of the ossetian people they jsut left them there russia could care less about anyones death they just want to take all of georgias land. |

Russia needed reason to invade Georgia because of it's ambitions to become NATO and EU member. Russia is afraid that in this case NATO will border it from the south also. S. Ossetia and Abkhazia are only reasons. on 1993 Russians made hundred of thousands of Georgians to leave their homes in this regions and become refugees in their own country. Many Georgians still live in S. Ossetia and abkhazia and Russians by shooting this Civilian Georgians provocated Georgian government which was trying to defend it's people and territory. Russia has a dream to become New world Leader and rebuild New Soviet Union! |

Well a bit concerned because you never know what those with power will do with it. It eventually comes down to who is elected in the U.S. & even being an ally to Georgia the U.S. needs to back down on this conflict.
Let me tell you why and Bush mentioned the Axis of Evil at one point in his awful career remember? Russia is communist, China is communist and so is North Korea. China & North Korea has mentioned numerous times it would back Russia at the time of war so that would not be a war any powerful country would win and if nukes are used say good by to your life and your family.
And if McCain is elected I can pretty much see World War III being initiated sooner than expected take a look at this article and you'll see what I'm talking about. He's a warmonger the only people in this country that think he should run are the same fools that think Bush is doing a great job now. I, on the other hand, didnt really care who (Democrats) won during the primaries as long as its not another warmongering idiot. You dont win friends with that mentality and this day and age you need as many allies as possible.

what russian army did to the same kind of republic like Ossetia, to Chechnya. You also need to obtain the video of that time, I'm talking about Chechnya. You will understand how savagely russain army killed chechen people.
You also need to obtain how savagely they were killing people in Czech in 1968.
You need to learn what kind of organisation is KGB and its leader, today's prime minister (former Russian president) V. Putin.
Please learn about all these facts (whatever I just listed) and you will understand what kind of nation is Russia, what kind of peacemakers they are.

At 3:30 08.08.2008 tanks of the Georgian armies have entered into city Tskhinvali. Artillery bombardment all the day long proceeded, fights with use of tanks and heavy combat material, both against ossetic armies, and against peace inhabitants were conducted. 2000 civil people already were lost. The Russian peacemakers have arrived to South Ossetia in the evening 08.08.2008 for settlement of the conflict and prompting of the world in republic and protection of the Russian citizens living on territory of South Ossetia.
