The actual borders changed very little. Before World War I the area was part of the Turkish Ottoman Empire, After the war it was governed by the British Empire as was most of the world.

Well Iraq was part of the Ottoman Empire. Therefore there wasn't really any Iraq. It was three or so provinces of the Empire.

Iraq and Kuwait were under the Ottoman Empire before WWI. The British intervened and redrew the borders of Iraq and Kuwait leaving Iraq with only a small area of marshy coastline and no port. This is partly why Saddam invaded Kuwait which started the first Gulf War.
