Recently I asked how would I give custody of my daughter up so that I could enlist. There is a regulation stating that if you are without spouse and have a dependent you cannot enlist and there are no waivers. So I am trying to either find out how to get around the regulation or how I would give custody of my daughter to my mom. My daughters father and I were never married nor have we been to court for custody and he is incarcerated, charged with statutory rape if that matters, so I am just her custodial parent. I need to know what I need to do to comply with the military regulations.

And now I understand why the men and woman who serve our country do not feel appreciated!! FYI I'm not trying to get rid of my child, If I could take her with me I would and I will if I can find a way. I have looked at the getting maried option and my best friend is willing to do that so maybe that is the route I will take. As for any1 who has something bad to say about our military or the brave men and women who are willing to serve our country to keep your *** alive. Maybe if you or some1 you love were killed in one of the many terrorist attacks you would feel differently. Dont judge people who are willing to DIE for people like You!!!

So ( to the comment above) your saying that those who need stability ,an education and medical are out for a free ride? There are so many who come from poverty with little education that want to better them selves that join the services. Its the toughest career choice one could make. And probably the best choice one could make. Do you want this young lady to be a "welfare mom" and collect off the taxes you pay or she fight for YOUR, OUR country to earn her living. Come on give her a break. I feel she wants to do whats best for her and her child.
Listen Hun, You CAN join as a single parent like I said all you need is a family care plan , which is your mother, and a power of attorney that will allow her to make any desicions on your behalf to which will need to include medical. The Army can and will help you with this. There are just as many snigle moms in the Army as there are single dads.

The military doesn't need people like you!
You rant about military people not being appriciated, but yet you ask advice how to "get around the regulation".
You aren't willing to die for this country, you are trying to get a free ride for you and your child.
A REAL service-member doesn't go around trying to get around regulations that are in place for a reason.
"If I could take her with me I would". So who pulls your duty when you're home with a sick child?
Who covers for you when your baby-sitter cancels on you?
Who covers your work if you have to work a weekend at a last minutes notice and you don't have day care lined up.
Who covers for you when the school or sitter calls if your child gets sick or hurt and you have to run to the base clinic?
These regs were put in place for a reason. If you do get "around" them and the military finds out, you should be charged under the UCMJ for fraud, disobeying lawful orders, etc, etc.
Again, we in the military don't need people like you! Stay at home with your kid. |
