How do I get ready for Basic Training?

I know BTC is physically demanding, but do you have to be tough and know how to take pain? I've never been in many fights, and I'm a bit spoiled, so I've never really taken much pain before. Heck I don't think I've ever been punched in the stomach! I know this question is extremely irrelevant to BTC, but just thinking of what conditions there'll be. My endurance is pretty low, but I am fairly strong compared to most of my friends at 17. Am I overthinking BTC, or will it be hell for me?

You're over thinking it. As long as you're in decent physical shape, you'll be fine. Don't worry about getting into fights. Do as you're told, follow orders, and keep your mouth shut, and things will be fine. Good luck. |

One thing I tell EVERYONE is to work on running.
Push ups and Sit-ups are something you can always improve on in training because at night you can do More if you feel you need it. but running is something that either you have when you get there or you don't.
Trust me I struggled at running and only made my run by 2 second (well that and medical issues) but running is something you can push through. |

Relax.
Basic just isn't that hard. Keep you mouth shut. Do as you're told. Give 100% in everything you do and you'll excel.
It wouldn't hurt to jog a few miles every day, and practice shining your boots, folding your underwear into perfect 6" squares and scrubbing the floor with a toothbrush - all useful skills in basic training. |
