How do I live near my husband while he attends Tech School?

My husband is about to graduate from Tech School for the Air Force. How do I go about living near him? Is there a type of housing on base where I can stay temporarily? I know he can't live with me for the first two phases, but I want to live close to him without having to get an apartment.

I know I'll have to pay, but I was looking for a temporary place that is affordable enough...

you are completely on your own. you cannot reside in Base housing unless he has ACCOMPANIED orders.and it sounds as if he will not be getting them. as for staying in base lodging..that is space A only( anybody on orders can displace you at anytime).

Nobody will grant a short term lease less than 6 months and extended stay hotels will more than eat up your BAH and then some.

its better to just stay put and visit once he has permission to leave base. especially if he will be there less than 6 months.

you will have to pay for your own housing as well as the move and you will not have a job to pay for it all when you move to a new area. Your name is proud momy of zoey i take it you have a kid and it will not be easy on your husband to pay for all that You will have to wait it is just a few more months and honestly if you cant handle him being away for techschool for a few months how will you handle a deployment you need to get used to the military life basic training and techschool is the easy part believe it or not

You don't say where or how long he has left, but you could stay in lodging on base if he has say less than 30 days or so, but depending on where you are talking about that can costs as much as an apartment for a month. They are normally about $30 dollars a day, but I have seen some lodging facilities higher than that. You will have to pay out of pocket to stay there. BTW, it is on a space available basis. If there are people on orders that need the space, they can ask you to leave and then you will have to get a hotel...which will be more expensive.

You would have to pay for your own move and your apartment or whatever off base while he is still in tech school Just be a little patient and wait until he gets his first duty station and the military will pay for you to move. Heck if you choose they will come and pack up your things and move them for you. If you move at anytime he is not PCSing on accompanied orders YOU will pay not the military.
