How do i get emtional help being engaged to a deployed soldier?
|
I know that they have groups for wives of deployed soldiers, but how do I seek help just being engaged? I really need the help of other military spouses who feel the same way I do. I feel like my days are running together and I feel like crying all the time. I'm supposed to be strong aren't I? I can talk to him about my emotions, but I feel like I should be strong for him, especially when he is deployed to a hostel environment. If anybody can help me out and give me some good advice I would really appreciate it. I love him and though we haven't been together long( it will be a year in July) I really want to make our relationship work physically and emotionally. Its makes me sad to know that we wont be together for our 1 year anniversary... I just don't know how to feel anymore... Any advice that can help me cope or take my mind off this deployment? Additional Details Ok well lets try this again. I don't want ignorant people saying I need to seeking help through therapy I am a completly sane person just asking for others like me to talk to. My fiance is not cheating on me and never will, he is actually one of the good guys out there. So let me rephrase my question. Is there anybody who feels the same way in the same position as me? I know that there are resources out there to help girlfriends and fiances. I just need help locatin them. P.S we arent getting married any time soon we just bought a house so marriage is not an answer right now.

Deployments can be very hard, even more so because your not married yet. First off... stay busy... try not to sit constantly by the phone or waiting around for emails or letters.... it'll make your time go by so slow... pick up extra work hours or pick up another class....a new hobby maybe? Do you know any other military wives where you are? there are also many Military wife/gf/fiance forums that can help you get through your tough times.... My husband is in Afghanistan, we had a little girl a week before he left.... so trust me I know what your feeling. But this is only the beginning of your lives together.... you have to understand and accept that you (even tho your going to be his wife) dont come first... the military does... as long as he's under uncle sams thumb. You just have to stay away from the media--they never get stories or facts right and it just makes you worry even more...do something positive...think positive...if you dwell on the negative and the "what ifs" you will find yourself in a world of unhappiness and depression. Find faith if it helps... I did... esp when my husband was blown up from and IED.... there are many ways to get through it your not alone. Just be strong for you, and your man... I cant say it gets easier or better because it doesn't... but good luck
**In reply to the ignorant shmuck above... he will not cheat on you... he's in a war zone... he's worried about covering his a** not getting any!
** As for the forums... I dont know any off the top of my head... personally I dont use them... sometimes you can run into really mean judgemental people, which isnt something you want to deal with but... up to you ...just google it |

I can't tell you any forums or groups but sometimes even just talking to a good friend can be helpful. They might not understand what you are going through but it doesn't make the support any less. You could also try talking to his family, you are his fiancee and he is their son/brother and are in a similar situation. This is how I got through my husbands deployment since he sent me back to parents for that year. |

you are not eligible for or entitled to any official support via the military until you are married. some online groups permit GF and fiances.
if you want real help you need to pay for therapy on yoru own.
ETA: are you incapable of using an internet search engine ? have you tried googling 'military girtlfriend support groups'? |

I do not know where he is, but if he spoke to the Chaplain, there may be a way you two could be married, or look on line for some other military spouses with whom you can talk. |

Tell him exactly how you feel.
If he's a good guy, he will already want to know how his fiancee is feeling, and he is most likely aware that you would not be feeling well. |
