How do i go about getting a military ID?

My dad was retired s. major for army and also national guard. He had passed and wondering how I get military ID so I can get benefits. He had over 20 years of service. What do I need and where do I go ? I live in florida.

You are no longer eligible to get a Military ID. Only his wife will be able to keep hers.

Dependent children can no longer have or get a Military ID when:
- they are married
- unmarried children over 21
But if you are
- Over 21 but incapable of self-support (Substantiating documentation is required).
- Over 21 but under 23 who are attending an approved learning institution as a full time student (Documentation is required). Then you can get an ID card.

If you don't qualify under this rules, the only way to get benefits from the military is for you to join up yourself and get your own military benefits.

If you are under the age of 18 then it would be a dependent ID, If you are above that age then you don't ge one. Your Dad earned those for himself and his dependents. Once you gain a majority of yourself at age 18 (or 23 if in college and it was petitioned to remain his dependent). My condolences for the loss but you don't get anything from his service sorry

Unless you are under 21 or enrolled in college full time until you are 23 you will not qualify for a military ID card at all. Only your mother would retain his benefits and base priveledges after he has passed away.

Okay, my father and grandfather are retired army, My grandfather is a retired sergeant major. As his child you do not get any benefits, only his wife will. You will not be able to get an I.D. or any benefits.

you wouldn't get an id unless you are a minor. the only benefits are his sgli and gi bill which are selected by him. you only get medical coverage while you are a minor

I dont think that you get a military id because those are only for active service members and their dependents otherwise everybody could just pass their id on and that is not how it works. But what you can do is call the VA Department of Veterans Affairs and if he had a disability rating then your mom could maybe get something but you need to have all his papers etc. in order to proof that. I dont think it is worth it unless you already have VA paperwork then your mom can apply for some things but you wont get a ID card.
