How do you think people treat Nazi veterans?

i would treat them with respect. their leaders are to be treated badly for their failure. however german soldiers where amongst the most disciplined and tough soldiers of their time. they fought two empires and a rising super power at once and almost drove the two empires into decline. if they represented the aryan race then they proved their worth, however hitler proved to be a bad aryan leader. soldiers are ordinary people like us who defend their country, their mother. good soldiers should always be respected. they are no more evil than US soldiers who where sent to invade Iraq. its failure that made them evil.

The vast majority of German war veterans weren't any more 'evil' than anyone else... they may have been drafted and sent off to fight and I imagine all they wanted was to get back home safely. You can hardly equate the rank and file German soldier with the people running the death camps.

Very few German soldiers, of all ranks, were Nazis. Seeing how the war ended 53 years ago my guess is that they're treated as curiosities.

well the boys were forced to go into the army so i dont hate them, but the people that volunteered i would not like.

I dont think we would know, unless they told us. Also if their around us their mad old and we would prolly treat them with respect b/c their elders. sad to say but its the truth.

Not very well, considering how much Germans dislike talking about that era or being compared to Nazis. However, also consider the fact that many "Nazi" soldiers were forced into service. The Gestapo wasn't very flexible.

My friend actually met two high ranking memebers of the Nazi army in the USA.

The USA knows they are there considering they were captured and sent to the USA before WW2 ended.

I think they were treated corteously (well as corteously as POWS were treated then)after all they were just following orders and those two did not commit any war crimes or crimes against humanity......it would be very intresting to see what they had to say since they were on the other side during the war

yak, the war ended 63 yrs ago. i don't think you need to worry about how german war vets are treated. they are all over 80 and will all soon be gone. my dad was one and emigrated in 1957. he had a good and successful life and was treated with the respect he showed to others.

I seem to recall hearing they all kind of didn't want to ever mention it had happened.
Plus keep in mind so many many of what would have been the veterans were killed in Hitler's pathetic attempt to fight to the very end (he was putting boys up with guns in hand, at end).

Not well. I can only speak for myself but I am friends with a old Natzi vet, and he and grandfather are good friends. The war as in many others, has forged hatreds and friendships on both sides.

I've known several German Vets over the years

One was a Neighbor in NYC who was a Luftwaffe vet. Served as a Flak gunner, then in a "Field" division at Normandy. He was Born in Brooklyn. Nice enough old gent who's father sent him to Germany in 1939. He later served in the USAF during Korea to make up for being on the wrong side. He later worked at Republic Aviation building A-10's for this country. Exceedingly proud of that Aircraft.

Party members should be hanged, as well as Allgemaine-SS, Gestapo, SA, Camp Guards.

He's trying to be bring back the roman catholic inquisition and the Nazi Party !
The quicker he's gotten rid of the better !
Ratzi the Nazi looks like a bug-eyed chameleion and he sure is strange !
