Well, its one of the more important positions in the military. They fix computers, which run quite a bit of the Navy. Jeff Bacon jokes that next to the Navy SEAL, the IT guy is the most dangerous person in the Navy.

You'll be treated just like every other sailor. Personally, IT is not a Rate that would interest me, but to each his own.
