You grow up really fast and you see and experience things that most people don't.
This alone makes you different. The sense of humour the army has, is also different. I believe its the soldiers sense of humour, that helps him through the not so nice times.
The thing that really makes my blood boil, is when one of these civilians say "So, he was kia. That's what he joined for". Nobody joins to die, they join to serve their country. They just don't understand. |

You can always enlist and find out. Who knows? The experience affects different people different ways. I imagine many would become mentally AND physically stronger. |

The soldiers seem to have more strength and are in a lot better shape then the average citizen. But mentally it's up to how you take in death. Because i guarantee if you go to war you will see many deaths. I'm going to tell you a story. One of my Buddy's grandpa was in WW2 and his grandpa and his uncle were hunting, the grandpa put the sniper on his shoulder, and aimed the Crosshair at his head. Fortunately he didn't shoot. But then on the other hand, my uncle has been to Iraq twice now, and he hasn't been affected at all. So it all depends on who you are and how you take in things. |
