How exactly is iraq a threat to the states at this point of time?

Before we invaded, Saddam kept things prettry well locked down. But the idiot neo-cons who run our foreign policy just had to take him out. Since we invaded, it has become a training ground for terrorists from all over the world. And, the government is equivalent to a house of cards as far as maintaining order, which could spread to neighboring countries.

That's for the governing powers to know and for you to trust them on.

Iraq has become a key point in the war against terror .
Terrorist are always a threat regardless of who and how the war
is started . Now it has to be finished for good or bad .
Stretching it out only fills the coffers of the rich.

The war in Iraq is one front of a larger conflict. The conflict is with a radical ideology. See for yourself at my web page http://judgeright.blogspot.com under the post titled 'In Their Own Words' Just click on the words that are in BOLD and watch videos of their most popular religious and political leaders stating their agenda to cheering crowds.

Now it's more of a political threat than a physical one. If the US doesn't finish what it started, people will say that bin Laden has won. Then countries will side with terrorists since it will look like the strongest nation on Earth couldn't beat them. These countries will be afraid for their lives, and it will look to them that the US is powerless against these criminals.
That's why we need to follow through whith what we've started. Right or wrong, whatever side of the political fence we're on, we need to look after the welfare of the country. Suddenly leaving Iraq will only create more problems for ourselves.

it's now more or less about the Iraqis' themselves and their safety and survival after all thats changed from the ousting of saddam...that's why we're still there..

Iraq isn't a threat to the U.S., believe it or not we are suppose to be there to be training Iraqi troops to be able to defend themselves against the insurgents. The Iraqi people really don't mind us there because they know that their own troops cannot stand up to the insurgents by themselves and they need our support right now, it's the insurgents that don't want us over there and that's why they keep bombing our troops. They aren't defeating our troops over there so why would they come over here to face even more of our troops plus 280,000 millions angry Americans? Their weapons are outdated and our technology is so much more advanced that they would never be able to pull it off. 9/11 happened because we trusted, we are no long trusting and the "Sleeping Giant has been awakened" and will always be on alert to any kind of invasion of our homeland. I know this is just one opinion, but honestly, I feel no threat from Iraq, now North Korea is another story...

In itself I do not see Iraq as any threat to the states directly. But, since our government has succeeded in making the US extremely disliked throughout most of the world, Iraq has become a focal point. If Bush pulls out of Iraq now, he would have to admit that he screwed up. I heard George state a few years ago that he wanted to be remembered as a war president, and he will be remembered as the foolish war president. Unfortunately we Americans have not learned to be ungreedy yet, so we still depend on OPEC for our daily oil fix. We are pretty much screwed no matter when we get out of Iraq be it today or 10 years from today which is probably more likely, because the Bush family puppet strings have been yanked by middle east puppeteers for a very long time. As far as *the war against terrorism* it can not be won. There is no logic in that theory. This is why we have never caught Bin Ladin. And if we ever do stumble across him and catch him, there are 1000 more just like him that are ready and willing to fill his shoes. The only thing that we and other nations can do to avoid terrorism is to tighten out security at home. Unfortunately we can no longer be what the Lady Liberty welcomes us to be, which is very sad, but a reality.

Rayden
Well, the problem is that Europe and America want the oil from Iraq. The Iraqis say 'No-No'. This doesn't go well with the Europeans and Americans, they want very low-cost oil.

It's simple.

now it is, before the war it wasn't!

Are you kidding??? Are you crazy?? Iraq is a MAJOR training grounds for Alquaida. Iraq is a strategic country in the war on Terror. If we win the war in Iraq (Not going to happen any time soon), we will have a major advantage in the war on terror because it will be a democracy which is a good thing and will be a big stabilizing force in the Middle East.. If we were not in Iraq now, the terrorists would have been in full force over here in America, perpetrating their hate and killing hundreds of thousands of Americans. Y0U could be one of those casualties now if we were not in Iraq. DON"T listen to the liberals who would love to tell you lies about why we are in Iraq and undermine all of the efforts of the people who work for the truth. Remember: "The truth will set you free".

Zivien
The same way it always has been, it welcomes terrorists, formerly Carlos the Jackal and now AQ sorts, and exacerbates the failure of islamic states everywhere. How many families are dead today because of Saddam's funding of terrorism in Israel? Dozens? More?

I wonder about the mental faculties of some of you guys. Saddam is a nut bag,,just like that little sawed off Korean and that Iranian dip-wad. Saddam never made a move against the US because he is smart. But that doesn't mean he never helped anyone who did try to hurt us. He funded terrorists and was making weapons. Kim Jung whatever, is mentally unstable, as is that Iranian SOB.
Now as to the meat of your question: Iraq is not a threat to us, it is a threat to itself. If they can't get it thru their heads to work together, then their democracy will end before it even gets started. I am not saying going into Iraq was the correct thing to do at the time. I think we should've concentrated our efforts elsewhere. But W finished what his dad could not. When Saddam invaded Kuwait, the senate and all them educated folks wouldn't let W's dad finish the job and take out Saddam then. We wouldn't have had the problems like we do now.
Iran and Korea are the contenders now. Not against us, but against world stability in general.

Matthew
Because we have a country where, I am assuming, a majority of a 28,000,000 person population doesn't like America or Americans.

Here is a good example. You are a small, pimply freshman, and you go up to a senior who is the captain of the football team. You punch him in the face. Then you try to convince him that he shouldn't retaliate against you. I don't know about you, but I would be damn sure that he understood why I did what I did, and that he should appreciate what I did.

Its not a threat now. The threat was removed. Now its a weak, very unstable country in a civil war. If we leave now the civil war will escalate and Iraq's neighbors will attack. The only thing stopping this from getting much worse is the NATO presence.
