well I am about to finish up my freshman year of college, I was about to enlist active duty for infantry for USMC but I became persuaded to finish school first,
My question is, if i decided to take a semester off and go USMC reserves and go to bootcamp, how hard would it be to finish school?
my recruiter says I have nothing to worry about, is this true? I know I can easily be deployed and i would have no problem with that but realistically would i be able to even go to school?

Do you not understand what the reserves is all about?
How can you not go to school while in the reserves?
You go to your reserve center 1 weekend a month and 2 weeks during the summer. The rest of the time is all yours to do as you please.
Always remember you can deploy as a reserve Marine. |

Not hard considering it's reserves.
Doing college as an active duty Marine is damn near impossible. |

If your college has NROTC then you might consider enrolling in the Marine Option "College Program." If offered a scholarship, it would pay full tuition. On graduation, you'd commission a 2nd Lieutenant. 3.5 years active duty without a scholarship. 4 years active duty with a scholarship. If your college does not have NROTC, then you could sign up for the PLC(platoon leader's course)

Calculate regular military compensation at the link. Location makes a significant difference due to the housing allowance(BAH.) Single Enlisted Sailors and Coasties ranking below E-5, Enlisted Marines and Soldiers ranking below E-6, Enlisted Airmen below E-4 live in the barracks and do not collect BAH:

2nd Lt( Army, Air Force, Marines) = Ensign(Navy, C.G.) = O-1.
1st Lt( Army, Air Force, Marines) = Lt JG(Navy, C.G.) = O-2.
Captain( Army, Air Force, Marines)= Lt(Navy, C.G.) = O-3.
Advancement to O-2 around the 18th month.
Advancement to O-3 by about 42nd month
