How has war changed over the years?

how has it changed since the first wars where fought thousands of years ago? how have the reasons for war changed? how has technology changed the way we fight wars?

BS
Well, actually in the last 40 years it has transformed more than any other time in history except for the invention of guns. Well, from the 1800's and back, war was pretty much fought by two groups on an open battlefield. They would make their formations and march forward. With guns hey would typically fire once or twice and then have to get into hand to hand combat. The range weapons were cannons usually.

Before guns were practical for fighting, they usually used swords and other up-close-and-personal weapons. Their range weapons were typically archer fire, catapults, and trebuchets. As before they generally marched onto an open battlefield and usually the side on offense charge while the defenders made a defensive position of some sort.

These days we have high tech equipment and weapons to help us fight. Instead of marching on an open battlefield, it is a strategic sort of battle where guns are accurate enough that we do not need to march out in a line to fire a wall of bullets. So we take cover and use optics to aim and fire. The range weapons today are snipers, jets for bombing, artillery. War has vastly changed since the beginning of time.

As you can see, we have really changed throughout history on how we fight our wars. If you have noticed, America has adapted to it well and does it best. You can feel a lot safer as a soldier knowing your not marching into a volley of fire, but it is also much more dangerous in the fact that weapons are more deadly, accurate, and have a better range.

Thanks for the question!

People during Vietnam developed the belief that civilians should not be targeted by our military. This is wrong. History has shown that the sooner the war is taken to the civilians and the home land the faster the war will be over.. The people of countries envolved will end a war not the military
Technology has eliminated the 'casual causalities' staying away from civilians. soldiers killing soldiers will go on unit every thing is gone
