30 years ago it was pure hell but I understand it has changed now. It will still be pretty grueling but not as bad. Do expect to get lots of excercise. Semper Fi

First of all let me start with good luck, and get ready for the hardest 12 weeks of your life. But if you make it, those 12 weeks will stay with you for the rest of you life. The Marines, will break you down, of the person you are now. But that the end you will be a new shining Marine, It will be physically and mentally tough, but worth it. You will be amazed of what you are capable of doing. You will learn skills, and a whole lot of team work.. Big clue. See stuff you have never seen, and maybe not see ever again.
And you will be come a part of a new family for the rest of you life.

Well, I wasn't in the Marines, but i grew up w/ a father that was a Marine Corp. Drill Sgt. (I did my time in the AF... It was like day camp compared to my house)

They are gonna break you down to nothing and then put you back together as a bigger/better person.

It will be very tough you will get really dirty and get ready for a big challenge. You should watch the movie cadet kelly and it will show you what you can expect.

All females go to Parris Island.
The DI's are tougher than the sand fleas.
The training and the Marines will benefit you the rest of your life.
My daughter thought it was fun.

Tough, but rewarding. Be prepared to learn you are not as prepared as you think. You will find the physical strength to do things your mind says you cannot not. It will change your mind.

You will learn basic hand to hand, rifle/marksmanship ability, small group maneuvering, and many more skills.

Hard if you are not used to being yelled at. Work as a team, if someone mess up you all mess up, if someone dose push-ups you all do push-ups. It about team work, and do not give up. When it is all over you will think back and say WOW that was not that bad.

Well first is which you will go to. East of the Mississippi you will go to Parris Island, West you will go to MCRD San Diego, with Michigan being a odd ball state you could go either. (From MI and went to San Diego.) It is 12 weeks of what you will consider, while you are there, hell. The best thing to do is: 1) Keep your head down 2)Do what you are told 3)Help the team 4)Sound off like you've got a pair.

You're goals: Keep healthy, make friends, learn what being a Marine means and last make sure your Senior Drill Instructor never knows your name.
